Who is tired of seeing those boring "raising the bar" commercials?! Where is the clever creative marketing that is supposed to drive in customers? Oh snap I almost forgot that big @$$ tree that we have that has the water droplets on it. Yawn!!! We need marketing directed at all markets---follow me on this--- Hip younger generation, because they tend to gravitate to the new and hot. Trendy suburbanites who want form and function. Then you have the "older" crowd who might like the corny stuff but give me jay-z coldplay something. I kinda like the shakira dancin' Hell give me something. oh we have ringer tones but they don't work yet. www.cingularanswertones.com
...
ok?
what in the heck are you talking about! 😉
No wireless carrier can have it all, but I think Cingular really wants to cement itself as the carrier to have as far as signal strength and reception. They do however have to work on the reception issue in the Northeast first and then they can call themselves the allover network. I know, i've heard all the sayings...all over your wallet, etc. Cingular has its perks and its downsides. The answertones, more commenly know as Ringback tones will be up pretty soon so no fretting!
...
There are three hot commercials out right now all for the ROKR everyone dosen't want that. I made the comment about the Shakria dancing cause it's in a Verizon commerical. Cingular dosen't have any catchy marketing. Its bland! It's boring we all know the strengths and weaknesses of cingular but how can we attract a broader spectrum of what we can do spice it up alittle bit. look at "Poser Mobile" the commericals are kinda lame but funny at the same time. That's what i'm saying. sorry if it didn't come out like that from the jump.
...
interesting... i like that perspective.. it is kinda like verizon saying "its the network" and sprint saying "yes you can" and advertising on their strong suits.
what do you think cingular's strong suit is?
...
They have the black RAZR and no one else does?!
...
i dont mean that way... i mean what does cingular offer that differntiates themselves from the pack..
example... tmobile= lower end price points with more mins... nextel= walkie talkie... verizon= the best network...
whats cingulars?
...
I'll tell you. Arrogance. We are Cingular.....Thats enough.
They forgot all about a little wireless company called Verizon. They ignore Sprint completely
They devalue the ATTWS customers who are so "unreasonable" because for years ATTWS gave them a real incentive to resign. Not free junk phones, but minutes. they assumed those customers would be grateful to be a part of the big Orange ball.

Hum, I read another post where a Cingular rep was sayin that they're kind of slow-torturing the folks who are still on the ATT wireless contracts, to make them switch over to Cingular. Is that true? And is that some of the "arrogance" that you're talking about?
Also, what exactly are they doin' to the ATT guys that's allegedly so bad?

lol.
wow how come you have so much hate towards your own company?

LOL, nextel18, who else but your own company is gonna treat you bad?
I mean, you can hate Microsoft or Exxon or whoever, but if you don't work for them, there isn't much they can actually DO to you.
...
that is true... but i never saw so much hatred for one company....
hey i cant hate exxon or msft becuase i own their stocks. lol...
they can do stuff to me... by not posting results so it will make the stock stay still... lol.
...
My company? I don't work for them. I'm just a long time customer. I would never work for a company that treats their best employees the way they do by cutting commissions. Unless I was inclined to collect unemployment that is.
...
lol...
oh.. well it sounds like you do work for them.. with your hatred. lol thats all.
man you are a funny person. lol... i cant stop laughingg.
...
👿 Unless you work here you'll never understand. Cingular sucks for a lot of reasons, and high cell phone bills aint the primary one. Ask anyone who works in a call center and they can tell you. I'm at the point where I could care less if I get fired from this joint or not. Until such time I shall do my part to sabotage the company. 😈
...
So you don't know your options and that makes Cingular the devil. I suppose when you backed into another car in the parking lot it was Ford's fault because the mirror wasn't good enough for you.
The Flame War is getting incredibly old.
...
The flame war will never go away...
"I hate T-Mobile because blah blah blah!!!"
"I think Sprint sucks because blah blah blah!"
"I think Verizon is for losers because blah blah blah!"
"I think Cingular is the worst carrier because blah blah blah!"
"Waaaaah, I am pissed because I don't get to take advantage of my wireless carrier and screw them into giving me free phones, unlimited anytime minutes and other crap I don't deserve!!!!!"

No I'm pissed because I pay my carrier 100% of what I agreed to send and receive calls on a mobile device. They give me back less than 50% of reliable service for my money. Well there are carriers who can indeed raise that bar to 80% for the same price.
There's your sign Bozo.
...
This posting was not directed at you. Cingular has major issues, which is why I decided to keep T-Mobile. You are the exception here. I am talking about people who try ti get a free phone every month just because they think they deserve it!
...
(a note: "you" is every customer out there.. well, almost every one.)
what people seem to forget is that this is WIRELESS. No one ever said you would have service everywhere. No one promised you that you would get anything for free. Loyalty doesn't get you a discount on your electricity bill or cable bill does it? No. Stop complaining and enjoy the fact that you have the convenience of this service. Don't walk into a store and complain about pricing, either. If you want a convenient service, you have to pay for it. Just because YOU think it is more than you should have to pay doesn't mean that it actually is. These businesses are out to make a profit. Just like wal*mart, abercrombie and EVERY OTHER BUSINESS out there. Stop your b*t*hing...

Roll Over is a joke for anyone but a 300 minute a month user on the $39 plan. All others should be on a lower plan if they have more then 500 minutes in their roll over banks
Then when someone realizes that and wants to switch to a more economical plan Cingular cries foul and takes their roll over minutes. Amazing they are getting any activations at all.
...
I'm pretty sure whenever I tell potential customers about the rollover feature, they always get excited. It may be old, but it works. If service is the same with VZW where you use your phone, and Cingular has the exact same plans as Verizon, why wouldn't you accept the rollover feature? And the largest mobile to mobile calling community in the USA?
...
Rollover, True Mobile to Mobile, and the worldwide standard in cell phone technology.
...
i asked for one thing, not 3.
so then they should be advertising heavily in those not in some ROKR phone or stuff like that.
...
T-Mobile has Catherine Zeta Jones, U.S. Cellular has Joan Cusack, Verizon had some celebrities on thier V-Cast commercials, Sprint has...well...I dunno.
Cingular has the ROKR...
That;s what I am seeing on my TV every night are these commercials.
...
I mean we do have rollover but we need to capture that with a great commercial... Wheres Quentin Tarantino when u need something off the wall.
...
You don't get it. Roll over is only good for those on a $39 plan who use 300 minutes a month. If someone on a higher plan has 1000 roll over minutes they should be on a lower plan.
It's not about advertising. People are getting smart to wireless. If one sees millions of people buying a certain item and sees they are happy. no advertising will get them to try an item that people are buying less of each quarter.
In this case the herd mentality applies.
...
I know you hate Cingular. I know you have your reasons for your hatred towards Cingular, but please bail out of your contract already and switch to Verizon so that I don't have to read your negative posts. I would rather hear you talk on and on about how much you like Verizon, than to hear you rant negatively about Cingular.
I am not wild about Cingular, but I am not stuck on how much I dislike them either!
...
Somebody needs to voice the issues. I will keep the fire even after I switch. People need to know Cngular has issues with service, employees, and is not the #1 wireless carrier they pretend to be.
When Sprint releases it's numbers and if they beat Cingular as expected, there will be your sign and major proof Cingular is quickly turning into the also ran wireless company.
...
I love those T-Mobile commercials for prepaid "You guys are posers" I work for CINGY and use that line everday.
...
What Cingular needs is a reliable network. No ad campaign can give you that. the public is not stupid as you guys think. They are going to Verizon in droves because the biggest reason for having a phone is "to make calls" Really. Its not for gimmicks like ringback muzak, OBX file transfer, internet browsing, All those things are great IN ADDITION to making a call that does not drop. I have Cingular in South Carolina and over 50% of my calls are redials, No exxageration. Sometimes the signal gets so bad I have to hang up and redial just to get a better connection.
All the bells and whistles and thin phones and phones that wipe my azz are a waste of money if one cannot make a reliable call, or get more then 5 different answers when finally ...

"Its about the network. not internet. but VOICE. Can you hear me now? I say that more then 5 times everyday! (For only a few more days)"
i agree, but sooner or later verizon wireless needs to come out with a nice high speed data like ev-do rev o and a but more like a 3g or a true 4g solution to offset those declining voice arpu. however, it might not matter especially at the rate that verizon wireless continues to sign up quarter after quarter and year after year. lol.
...
Verizon will always make it up in volume. People will not switch carriers for better data. they will for better voice. People can get portable data a number of ways. Only one way for voice.
...
yea that is true, but data arpu needs to pick up when this market becomes saturated with voice arpu and for total subscribers.
maybe verizon is an exception.

look at your location South Carolina. Don't they have TDMA Towers that were just upgraded to GSM not brand new GSM towers. Now if I'm wrong please let me know. That's what I was told. But in places where GSM was the first choice it's wonderful. Here in VA where we took over an underfunded network i.e. Suncom the service is good some days and dogz nuts other days. You are right it is the network that's why we are dropping so much money into that right now it has to be worse before it's better.
...
I do not know what they have. I can tell you what they do not have. Reliable service. we customers have become so used to hearing the "future promise" we do not belive it any more. "Yeah we are building new towers there in six months".
No credibility anymore, I nearly paid the ETF 6 months early but hung on. And yes six months ago this was supposed to be fixed by mow. I'm tired and after someone directed me to this forum, I am more then convinced Cingular has major internal as well as external issues. The trend is not going in the right direction either. I get more value better service for my $100 a month.why shouldn't I? Suncom customers have unlimited calls for $69 a month (no junk fees) so they will out up with the crappy GSM service...

Maybe you don't fully understand how things work.... In order to put up a new tower it costs a few million dollars (which cingular has) but you have to get fcc access, buy the land blah blah blah so one tower could take up to a year to go up. JUST ONE TOWER!!!! We aren't even talking about the 100+ set to go up in my area of VA in 7 or 8 months. you are in a spot where TDMA Reigned!! It needs to be more towers but up but again it takes about a YEAR ON AVERAGE FOR ONE TOWER. Not to mention the mobile switching stations etc etc cause a tdma mobile switching station cannot handle gsm switches. trust me when we went from suncom to cingular i had at least 100+ complaints a day but as new towers start to go up and technology is upgraded the naggin...

It's not the customer's responsibility to pay for a reliable network for the SAME money as Verizon who already has a reliable network where they have coverage . They can go to Verizon and already have a reliable network. Its not like Verizon is more expensive any more. They used to be more expensive. I chose Cingular because they were LESS expensive then Verizon and I was willing to put up with their growing pains to save a few dollars.
But since Verizon now costs the same it makes no sense to pay the same for much much less. Cingular is not ready to command Verizon like prices until they have Verizon like customer service and coverage. Well reliable coverage.
Cingular claims coverage in South Carolina. Technically they are ...

I can relate to this post, we deal with the coverage issue every day in my store. We've been hearing for months now that better coverage is coming. Now we are finally starting to see significant numbers of tower adds. Coverage is the #1 issue the front line people struggle with every day in the SCarolina market, and yes our numbers reflect this struggle.

Thank you someone who understands that with the flick of a switch and some new orange paint the service isn't always gonna be the best things take time. Verizon didn't get their network overnight. it took years to build it up.

Thats the problem with Cingular. You get a bar or two and they claim coverage. The when you try and cancel they claim they have coverage in that area even though I proved to them IN THE STORE they did not have reliable service when I called the Sales rep and the call dropped! I was three feet away. He said it was my phone (as I expected) so I swapped the SIM out with the SE I keep in the car and repeated the call with the same results after which I got an earful about the UTMS and new towers "coming." Needless to say I left ( as did a couple other customers who were there picking phones out service after witnessing my "test").
