phone problem

Hi all you cingular reps, I have a question. I have a motorola v400 and when you try and listen on it, you cant hear a thing, the earpiece is litterally crap. Max Volume, and pushing it to your ear and you still can barely hear unless the other person is shouting. I am not covered by warranty anymore, and I'm eligable to upgrade in about 5-7 weeks, so it's kind of pointless to file an insurance claim and pay 50$ when I'm going to upgrade soon. What are my options? Could cingular give me some kind of temporary replacement until I can upgrade, or even perhaps an early upgrade? Any info on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

go 2 walmart and buy a nokia 6010 from tmo and unlock it. it'll end up around $43 tho. you could also try to cut a deal with a store rep to buy a junker phone from them for $20. they might have an old one that a rep owns or one that they plan refurbish/recycle

How about just using s headset for the few weeks until you can upgrade. Personally I use a headset for 90% of my calls any way. Much more convienient.

Im not saying it is still this way, I have been out of Cingular for over a month now.

But if they decide to give you an early upgrade you will pay the one year upgrade price for a 2yr agreement. Do what Celling said, try a headset if that works, wait till you are eligible.

Not necessarily. If it's only a few weeks, they can push up a standard upgrade. Just gotta ask the right rep.

If you grab the earpiece and squeeze it hard, that sometimes works for a quick fix. 😁

if you get a nice store rep, they might just let you do a standard upgrade early. you could always ask for the manager first and then have him hand you off to a rep. also, if you are planning on adding some features to your account, this will make it more likely to happen.

you could also call CS if this doesn't work, and ask them about it. if you get someone nice there, they might put a note in account saying you are eligible a little early.

otherwise, i would use a headset to get by for the time being. it's the cheapest option to get by.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I have a V400 also, and always thought it was just me, or the other person. I'm on my way over to Sprint right now, and while trying out the phone, I had it on the lowest setting and was still able to hear perfectly. It's too bad that problem on the V400 though, other than that, I really enjoyed that phone. I even plan on keeping it once I cancel my service. Why? I have no idea.

If your only 5-7 wks away from being able to upgrade, go to the store and see if they'll let u do it a lil early. If not, talk to the manager and see if they'll let you. If that fails, call cust serv, and get them to note the acct to allow u to upgrade. (explain the earpiece is shot, and u just want to upgrade) your not that far off, if it were me, i'd let u do it because the phone is dying....
