Yes I'm upset about Cingular not having Ringback tones VERY upset! However, I'm not writing these threads out of pessimism but out of optimism, for example the new I-tunes phone is going to Rock and bring lots of new subscribers right? This however is not what I'm talking about. Writing in these forums and glad slapping each other on the backs about everything Cingular is doing right is not going to maintain our lead in subscriber additions! I would much rather have someone give me constructive criticism on how to become #1 through and through, instead of patting me on the but and telling me what a good job I'm doing in some areas. Now I know what you're saying "he is so negative, he is such a whiner" but NOOO, I write because of my pass...

As much as it's obvious that VZW has a clear edge over Cingular in phone choices and voice coverage...but unfortunately, VZW doesn't hold nearly as much spectrum as Cingular, and does not offer a data network outside of it's market areas.

Vzw has a clear edge in phone choices? where? think of it... 9 phones have been discontinued, 4 have been announced. so that leaves 5 openings(supposing all are replaced) one yet to be announced is a ptt samsung, the 1st nokia flip for cing(oct), not to mention the exclusive rokr e1. or the Pebl which i firmly believe will be brought to Cing the sometime in nov (after the black v3 exclusive runs out) Cingular has many phones that are "cooler" looking. s710, razr(kinda old now), rokr, p207 black and white(soon). Not to mention the soon to be released z520, 9300, w800... come on.. most of vzw phones are bulky..

I would call ringback tones the gayest gay that was ever gay, but that would offend my homosexual friends. However, I also think that about PTT and Cingy picked that up. The only way I would want ringback tones, is if I could record myself singing a song I made up on the spot, which I would change on a weekly basis.
If I ever called my friend and it played music instead of rang, I'd probably hang up. Then I would call back, having thought I dialed a wrong number, and listened to the voice mail pick up. When it does, I'll laugh and make fun of them for at least five minutes. I'll probably get tired of calling them after a week because of that and just run up their text message bill instead.
I will never find myself looking forward ...

Ringback tones are actually decent! It gives you another opportunity to customize your phone.

Sorry cingy, I wasn't trying to rant about you, just the feature. I hate it. I think you have every right to want certain things in your phones, but if you were a personal friend of mine I would still tease you mercilessly about it by singing whatever song you choose to use every time I see you in person.
I agree that Cingular has problems, but I think they'll only offer new and expanded services if they begin to feel threatened. They certainly aren't in this position now. Our rate plans were perfectly acceptable last month, but because Verizon was getting away with charging more we raised our to match.
I personally think we're at the beginning of a change in cell phones here in the states. Phones have primarily been something use...

we had it back in april, they pulled it off the website. they are probably getting ready to re-release it.

I have suggestions for cingular..
1. I think they need to offer the same minutes for 10.00 less a month than vzw. That'll get customer's attention.
2. I think we need to be more competitive with txt/mms/internet, hell data as a whole...
3. Stop following every move vzw makes in regards to plans... we're the largest company, why are we following... them? Set the pace, drop rates, offer an unlimited txt plan, and lay off the feature/accessory/rate plan quotas... they just put stress on the reps and make them sell stuff the cust doesn't need.
