Does anyone know how I can get my v551 unlocked. My carrier was AT&T Wireless which is now cingular and their reps have no clue. They told me to contact motorola and motorola referred me back to the carrier. Any suggestions????

From what I've read on here, AT&T never gave them out anyways, so I think you'll need to find a website that does that electronically.

yea orange phones can be unlocked if you have the proper reason behind doing it and qualify, as for blue devices, well.. best adv would be if you call customer care get them to call Technical support with your reason to get phone unlocked if there is a way to do that than they will know, or find someone on the net who can do that electronically

I cannot stress this enough, blue cc will not give out subsity unlock codes neither will TSD. you can get it done over the internet there are even ads on this website that link you to another vendor that will do tihs service for you, for a few dollars. OR you can try taking it to a celluar phone repair shop possible a private party retailer and they make help you out. but blue customer care does not give out unlock codes.

For the first time the other day I seen unlocking codes in the notes in CARE but they didn't work because Cingulars SIMS are not compatible with ATT's SIMS and so the customer still didn't get his ATT phone to work. Another dissatisfied customer that I was unable to help.

John -- I had a seller on eBay by the name of "unlocktotalk" unlock my AT&T Samsung. His rates are real low (my phone was just $10.00 which included return shipping). I was weary about sending off my phone but the guy sent it back unlocked and VERY fast -- he also has excellent reviews from other buyers. He unlocks the phone and ships it back the same day he receives it -- my total turnaround from the time I sent it to him and the time I got it back was about 6 days. I might add a word of caution though -- Cingular tech support will explicitly NOT support unlocked phones so you'll be out of luck if you're not familiar with basic tech type issues.

I had an ATT v600 that I wanted to bring over to cingular. I do not know how many FREAKING times I called them up asking for my code. I think the call center reps are just intructed to tell you to go to Motorola so you get out of their hair. They KNOW Motorola doesn't have the unlock codes. What Motorola tells you is true: the carriers put the Subsidy locks on the phones when they recieve them from Motorola. Moto does NOT have them. Cingular has its orange codes and I KNOW they have the blue ones too.

Nevertheless, I was forced to go to a shady hole in the wall place to get my v600 unlocked. I just switched to a cingular plan the other day. I was 1 year into my 2 year agreement so they switched me over and put me on a 1 year with ...

This so called blue look up tool is not a company tool most likely this is third party store and he is making money by going to the net and getting the codes for you. There is no such thing as a blue look up tool created by attws or cingular as attws never did provide those codes period.
