ever thought of editing your own? That's what I do. It's easy, it's FREE and you don't have to deal with trying to find something that no one has. (I listen to a lot of stuff that never hits the radio, so not too many people make the ringtones for it.)

to download these tones do you need the net on your phone

No...I use either my MemoryStick or Bluetooth to transfer the tones. You could also use a data cable and software if you've got them.

Since the files we're talkin about are MP3's all you do is use a sound editing program to snip out the piece you wanna use, save it as a separate file, re-encode it into MP3 again (this step may not have to be done, but with my PC it does), and send it to wherever the phone keeps it's sound files.

I use a program called SoundForge XP that came with my computer to do the editing. It lets me do a lot of things that some other apps I've found won't. Like adjust the sampling rate, merge two stereo channels into one mono (since most phones have only one external speaker, mono's the way to go), fade in and out, crossfade, and even do little flips and reverses if I wanna edit out a dirty word (although I usually leave 'em in...I'm a metalhead and there's a lot of 'em sometimes). And it produces a really high quality tone at the end.

After that I drag and drop them to the memory stick or use BT.

Audigy's a nice one though if you're not experienced or you don't have access to really good software.

I can do all of that as well. I also like it because i can cut the bass, which on little phone speaker helps. and convert between wave and mp3. audacity i have found is more like protools for studio recording, you can edit the individual wave length and peak positions, and cut distortion and air...

yeah, soundforge includes a graphic EQ so I can adjust not only the bass, but every other area thereby tayloring it to a phone speaker rather than the high end speakers that I usually taylor my MP3's for.

Haven't used Audacity much, but from what I hear it's a damn good app. I'm just so used to what I have that I don't see the need to learn anything new.

Yea, if you have one that works stick with it... those are such large programs, wouldn't make sense having two... and with all the people around here with the v551 and 6230, i am always getting people asking me to make them ringtones... i don't mind, plus i'm bored a lot... I also like the wal-mart thing, i can get the 30 second clip there and change the bit rate and do a little editing so it doesn't sound like a part of the song, but a ringtone...

Whatever you do, avoid Jamster.com like the plague.

Not only will they bill you and bill you and bill you. It will also burn when you pee, that is how evil these jokers are.
