Off topic, but can someone assist w/question?
I am a content Cingular customer, for now, but can anyone help with a merger question on the Alltel forum, that forum is not visited very frequently as this one.
It's about an article about Alltel and VZW possibly merging, but again, that's only possible. After losing Cingular service last night in Ohio for over 5 hrs, I don't know how long I can trust my service. Thanks for any help.

first of all, alltell agreed to buy western wireless a few months ago. they are still in the approval process which took cingular, and at&t 8 months. apparently 8 months was incredibly fast, however I am no merger expert. I don't believe that verizon would be able to merge with them at this time.
outages are extremely frustrating, and unfortunate, but every wireless carrier has them. most go unnoticed, but every now and then there is a big one.
personally I would not make your decision based on one outage, or merger rumors. If you were content before last night stick with it. the network is constantly getting bigger, and better.

OMG!!! MY ELECTRIC WENT OUT!!!! I'M GONNA SWITCH ELECTRIC COMPANIES!!!!
Amazing how people take certain things for granted and never complain about them, and also pay the bill monthly without disputing anything about it, but thrash a phone company for one outage. I have gone 24+ hours before without electricity due to outages. Now which do you think is a bigger inconvience?? 24+ hours without electricity, or 5 hours without a cell phone?? Hell, all the northeastern part of america had a power outage a few years back. Everyone just patiently waited for power to be restored. But a few cell phone towers go down??? HEAVEN FORBID!!! Seriously people, Cell phone companies provide GOOD service. And cell phone companies are also doing ...
