UNLOCK CODE
Is this code unique to his model or serial number phone or is it general for all of Cingular or AT&T? I still need to learn the model# and who he is billed through (AT&T or Cingular). He has a quad phone.
Cingular has some bizzar requirement that a subscriber would need to have been signed up for three months on world connect prior to receiving such a code. Hopefully my nephew had done so but I can certainly understand that he did not considering he is the company commander of his national guard infantry unit, he was just married and his wife is having a baby. If Cingular does not make this ...

1) Fullfilled his contract.
2) Purchased the phone at retail(full) price.
3) As for the world connect requirement, I am unfamiliar with thar. I do know that as long as he has had service for 90 continous days and is going overseas a code can be requested.
Now did he fax copies of his orders to Cingular? If so, they will put him on a "save plan" or let him out of his contract. The save plan is like $20 with reduced minutes.
If he meets one of these requirements an unlock code request can be submited. It can take up to 2 weeks for it to come back.
Like I said in a previous post, if you can tell me his model number and when he bought the phone it may be unlocked already. All wo...

Thanks for the support! Today I learned through an email from his father that Camp Victory was attacked and a couple of men from his Brigade were wounded. I was told he was out on a training mission so he personally was not involved. We told him that given the nature of how information travels we expect for him to contact us if there is any incidents near where he is. He will be based out of Camp Taji in a day or two but possibly staying elsewhere for his mission. With a wife and baby on the way plus the responsiblity of being the commander it must be terribly difficult for him. I know it is extr...

Every family goes through hard times. And they don't even have to be military. A good friend of mine is a long-haul trucker. He's home maybe twenty days a year, depending on the scheadule. Sure, he makes pretty good money for driving around, but there a lot of stress. Sometimes he has cargos which make him a target, and from what I've heard, the driver usually ends up dead.
So, someone in the military may have a few months, or even a couple of years, of intense terror, but there are a lot of other jobs there they can take y...

Look man...Everyone else is being @$$holes about this so here what you need to do. Go to www.iunlock.com or www.wirelessimports.com (and click on unlocking at the top of the page). They will charge you a small fee (like around $30 or so) to unlock a phone and you can use it wherever and with whomever you want. The IMEI number is located on the box that the phone came in or under the batter of the phone. Just make sure you have that when you go to one of these websites (if you choose to do so). If you dont want to spend the money then search google for some assistance and more than likely you will find an answer. Screw Cingular and their unlocking procedures. It YOUR phone. Its not theirs just because Cin

I am waiting for their return call. I also am trying to learn the actuall cost fo the sim card that would work for iraqna (price per minute). No luck yet.
See i always laugh, specially the first time they do a warranty exchange, and they find out by unlocking it,voids the warranty, and whats even funnier, when they get charged back for the phone, because they say no one told then, but since we didn't unlock we could not know.
I'm almost tempted to help, just to quicken the losing of the warranty.
SOME of you reps are so affected by your customers you might consider gettiin out of the business.
Understandable.
I ask the Cingular Reps here to advocate for some type of policy implementation that will enable our troops or any soldier who uses a Cingular phone to be able to have their phone unlocked - so that they may use it.
Whether you agree or disagree with how the situation at hand is being dealt with- surely we can all agree that having a lifeline to home under such conditions is something we would all want.
Lastly, while enforcing these policies, do not forget that these are people you are dealing with. These are people, whose lives are on the line, and all they want to do is be able to talk to their family. There is no j...

If Spock where to find that type of "log" in my bathroom he would note that is has perfectly formed 90 degree corners forming what seems to be a cube! Sorta like that old-school plado toy where you smash plado through the various openings.
Ps. The other day I crapped a statue. I kid you not. If I had - had the courage to fish it out and place it on a pedestal - it would have been a work of art! I kdi you not - it was a very shocking moment in my life.
I digress, this is a nasty topic.
Even though you drive me nuts, your apology took guts and I am sure it was appreciated.
I honestly do not see a problem with getting someone who is in Iraq an unlock code. Current policies allow for most of them to be taken care of in that instance, and for those who do not qualify because of a quick deployment, there are many agents out there who can get that code for them.
The key here is getting it unlocked BEFORE they go. I agree with austin316/slave on one point, you can fry your SIM if it is done incorrectly and it would be difficult to get a new one to them in Iraq. Best to have it done here beforehand.
I was able to unlock a customers Nokia that was "hard locked" but it was a pain in the ass!

Get the handset unlocked and then he can use it for prepaid service while there. And as Will suggested, he may be able to use a prepaid SIM now since many phones last year were not locked.
It will cost you less per month and then he has the option to get whomever he chooses once he returns safely.
What a day!!
BTW, you up yet? I have a Dallas customer who wants to add Media Works. Would rather give it to you than agent queue.
Still waiting for Cingular to loft the freeze....any day now, and I can not wait!!!!
Thanks
