ATT policy was never to unlovk the phones, cingular is simply enforcing that policy, the only people with the unlock doe for that phone, is Motorola, and they have a legal agreement which binds them from releasing it.

thats a good thing thoguh as your phone any att device will only look for its primary carrier, and thats why if you need a phone, you need a phone that a ENS phone, that only cingular phones.

For cingular phones and service read under those unlock codes and READ what it says for ATTWS phones. We don't now, in the past ,in the future, or EVER GIVE OR PROVIDE ANY ACCESS TO ATT SUBSIDY UNLOCK CODES, they don;t provide them to either blue reps or blue tech reps, cuz only the man. has them and are legally bound to NOT RELEASE THEM

Subsidy Lock/Unlock Code
This resolution provides policies and procedures for the subsidy lock on Cingular phones.

This policy applies to all legacy Cingular markets and to all new combined company Cingular (orange and blue) markets. This policy only applies to Cingular branded devices (i.e. the device was an authorized Cingular device with a Cingular branded logo).

AT&T Wireless branded devices are excluded from this policy and will follow existing AT&T Wireless SIM lock policy guidelines. AT&T Wireless SIM Lock policy guidelines are available from 'blue' call center support representatives.

Can you read????It says the "POLICY" is available from the blue centers. The policy-The Rule-The Last and Only Word- Is that WE(BLUE) do not release the unlock code, we never have, never will, no one in blue has access to the codes, only the man. does, and they are under legal and contractual obligation to not reveal it,please give it up, i get at least 2-3 Chumps a day i have to repeat this to, direct from our p&p, which is POLICY&...

Do you enjoy being contrary and constantly repeating yourself, or are you just stupid? I personally know at least 3 people who have received the unlock code for their Blue phones. Apparently there are some employees in the Cingular organization (both Blue and Orange) that HELP the customers rather than harass them.

I recommend to google search for subsidy unlock. There's third parties out there you can pay to unlock the phone for you. Cingular blue will not do it and Cingular Orange will make you jump through hoops to acquire it... No easy task.

Pay the $5 - $20 to a third party, get Cingular Tech to help you unlock it. It's an easier path.

The other side of this is though, that the manufacturers would probably also prefer to keep things locked because that is also how they make money.
