GoPhone SIM Card Question!
So from what i understand.. I can buy any cingular phone.. And use it as a goPhone? How will that work? Can i take my current 64K Sim Card out of my Sony Ericsson T237 and put it in the regular cingular phone i bought at full price? 😳
...
no, the SIM card you currently have in your handset is hard wired to that specific wireless number. in order to use your handset bought at full price for a GO Phone you'd have to buy a new SIM card that hasn't been pre-set to a wireless number.

I see. So i can buy a phone.. and register it as a GoPhone??? And have them transfer my number?
...
as long as your number isn't post paid.
...
Actually you will need a whole new number. But GoPhone sucks so it's a moot point 😉
...
Your current number can't be a post paid number though. A post paid number wont transfer to any kind of prepaid type account.

Not exactly true. You can change your plan to a GoPhone "Pick Your Plan" as it has been explained to me. I have personally never done so, just been told on paper it is possible.
...
😡 9 times outta ten you'll burn the sim by doing this though. This is a major issue in NCCS region 😉
...
yeah, "supposedly" you're supposed to be able to switch between a post paid and a pre paid plan, but from what i understand (and what the relocation department told me), the customer would have to get a new SIM. otherwise it won't accept the new information.
like lordrevan05 said, it'll burn the chip otherwise.

Good to know.
I was told the information in context with the current $29.99 plan being eliminated. Basically, if a customer wants the $29.99 they can get or switch to a Go Phone PYP. Needing a new SIM seems logical if you have to switch billing systems.
...
is your current phone under a go phone account?
...
Yes, you can use your Cingular GOPhone SIM in any GSM phone that is unlocked or Cingular branded, your phone will transfer as long as you copy it first (sony ericssons store to the phone then you must copy them to the SIM).
