Port question

If I requested a port from carrier A to carrier B and carrier A released the number but I did not finalize the port with carrier B and canceled it as well. Will carrier A take the number back after they realize the port never went through, should I call carrier A no notify them that the port out was canceled?
Phone with carrier A still works.

That's weird. Once it's released, it's gone, finito, not working. Unless you mean it was authorized to be released, then it would still be active.

When a port request is made, in the simplest sense, Carrier B (recipient) would send a request to a federal oversight organization. Then the FOO sends the request on to Carrier A. As long as the number is active, and the information requested matches the account, by law Carrier A has to release the number to Carrier B, by way of the FOO. Once Carrier B received notification that the number has been released to them, they accept the port and finalize the mobile telephone number. At AT&T, you have 2 weeks to activate the new phone and thereby complete the port request. If you do not activate, the port request would drop out of the system and the current service would remain unchanged.

Thanks. I see that they have canceled my on line account but when I try to register again it won't let me and says my number is already registered. And when I called CS they said that service was still activated and good.
So from your answer I can expect everything to catch up in about 2 weeks?

I have seen situations where a port request in present on an account but it's incomplete and thus doesn't process.

Sometimes it's in a situation like yours where the port was initiated but the customer changed their mind.

If there is an incomplete port on your account that could be preventing you from logging into your mywireless account.

If that's the case you would need to call the service provider that you initiated the port from to ask them to remove/cancel it.

Thanks. I did that this afternoon and now I'm able to log back into my account.
