Int'l Roaming
I'm visiting Cambridge GB this week. When I couldn't locate the hired car driver at the London airport, I turned on my Cingular phone and found T-Mobile-UK. Made my call and found my ride ... kind of a liberating experience!
... but how much did I spend on that call (~ 3 mins)?
Later in the day, walking around Cambridge, I noted two other carriers were shown in my phone's display. I expect that the actual carrier is immaterial to the cost of making calls?
The international roaming feature is free to add on a customers account. You will pay $1.29 a minue while roaming while in Western Europe. The five dollar add on that you are talking about is for discounted international calling from the Us to anywhere else. The per minute charge is the same.
Still not sure exactly what benefit to my extra Int'l feature.
My bill runs ~ $53/mo, NAT1000R @ 39.99
plus $5.99CWInt/Pkg @ $5.99, plus taxes.
I did call CustSvc to add this Int'l plan, but she really couldn't explain exactly what I was buying for 6 bucks/month. I had impression that there were several options ... was in a hurry, so just said okay.
1. I think inbound calls from Asia only costs me basic minutes.
2. The plan reduces cost on MY outbound calls from USA to Tokyo or Taiwan (pretty rare).
3. And I now expect that MY rates when Int'l roaming are unaffected ... and I pay a roaming fee on both inbound or outbound calls when I'm outside USA...
