ringtone and MP3 help

Can someone please tell me what I need to make my own MP3 ringtones and get it to my phone. First of all I have a SONY 710a and second of all I have never even made an MP3 at all. I know there is alot of software out there but what is best.

step 1) plug USB cable into phone and computer

step 2) move MP3 from computer to MP3 directory on memory card

step 3) menu -> file manager -> sounds

step 4) find your MP3 and highlight it

step 5) click button on right hand side associated with the "MORE" option

step 6) highlight USE, press right arrow key, select SET AS RINGTONE

all of this, of course, could be found in the USERS MANUAL 🙄

If you need an MP3 editor, try WavePad. You can edit any MP3 to your liking. Just make sure it is a low bitrate, like 40-60 & about 20 seconds. This will use about 150kb of space.

I like to use iTunes (free download). With it you can adjust the start/stop times of the clip down to the millisecond. 64kbps seems to be good for a balance of quality/size.
