On Site Tech
If anyone knows about this, if its true or not...please respond! I hate wating on line at the verizon store near me but they can almost always fix it without mailing it, and if they do mail it they give a loaner phone.

I was in a Cingular store today and the guy told me that they didn't have on site tech people. He told me that any time I wanted my phone fixed, it had to be mailed out! I had no clue! He said that no stores have on site tech. This seems rediculous to me...verizon has them at every store, it seems stupid that cingular wouldn't.

I couldn't be bothered to box a phone up and ship it away then listen to the weeks of excuses as to why I don't have it back yet.
You get the replacement and a pre-paid shipping label to send your phone back.
Only thing you pay is if you want to upgrade the shipping (next day is only $7.50)
No need to hassle with loaner phones, no need to go to the store, no need for any of that, easy and hassle free.
I have exchanged 2 different phones using this process and couldn't be happier with it.
The only problem with this system is if somthing really important breaks and needs to be fixed immediately. It must take a while for the exchange phone to be sent so basically you can be without a phone for about a week! I think i would rather wait on lines...
Also it is not a loaner, you keep the one they send you same model (if same not avail they give you similar model) no need to worry about it.
If you have your contacts saved to the sim, slap the new sim in and call it a day

I've found that most local independent cellular repair places do great jobs and it usually costs less to repair a phone than to pay the insurance deductible.

Thats fine and dandy, but you better make sure that you know by doing that you are screwing yourself. The reason is that if go that route, instead of mailing it in, as soon as the opened that phone up,thats just voided your manufacturers warranty.

A good technician leaves no traces that he has been there. I have sent several phones to Moto and Nokia and none have been returned for technican damage
That means if that ind. store screws up in any way, you just got screwed because that voids the warranty, the reason i know, is that in order to open it and look in it and or repair it, they have to remove stickers that say "void if tampered or removed" which means that you just became S.O.L.
I have not seen any stic >...

Im sorry....but i would much rather have on site tech and wait in a line than have to mail in my phone.
I agree, but the beancounters did not see it that way - we cost too much.
