Upgrade Question for CSRs

I'm due for an upgrade on my dad's account, but I don't know a whole lot about AT&T's phones. What would be the best phone that is currently free? I would prefer one that doesn't require data, if possible.

Daddy bought us both iPhones in March of 2008, so he's not going anywhere. Mine broke a while back and I never got around to replacing it since I had an old Nokia bar phone, but I've lost the back to that and it's a HUGE pain to text on, so I'm hoping I can take advantage of my upgrade.

Not trying to sound like a salesman, but you get what you pay for. Spend twenty bucks and get way more out of your phone. Anyways, instore, you're looking at a depressing "free" lineup. Online, however, you'll find some better deals.

They're running Nokia E-71x refurbs for free, which though outdated, is a great phone.

If you're looking for something a little more basic, (out of all the freebies) I don't see many Samsung Flights coming back in with problems. As for call quality though, I don't have anything good or bad to say... Also, I would stay away from the free LG phones. I do a ton of XBMs for Neons.

Yeah, LG's seem like they leave a bit to be desired.

I wouldn't mind paying $20-30 for a phone; what would be the best thing in that price range?

Ok, well at this point you need to decide if you want to muck with rebates.

You'll get the same price online as in a corporate store or a retailer, but instore you will generally have a rebate. If you don't mind dealing with a rebate, you could do us AT&T dealers a favor and buy instore! Either way, there's some solid choices.

The Pantech Breeze II (if you're not looking for something complicated) is a well-rounded flip phone with good call quality, a big and bright screen, and LOUD speakers. It's also pretty damage-resistant. With all this comes a sacrifice in features; you won't enjoy web browsing or social networking on this handset.

(A side note: the previous phone, the Breez...

Thank you! I appreciate your thoughtful and timely response. ^_^

The Strive sounds like a good choice; I'll probably go with that.

Went to Best Buy, they were out of the Samsung Strive and had only one Pantech Link. I was gonna get that one, but it ended up being a lemon, so the manager was super-nice and let me get a Pantech Ease for $10! I am so happy with my cute little old-person phone. The touchscreen is nice and the keyboard makes texting soooo much easier. My only complaint is that there's no music player, but since I have an iPod that's no big.

It's always good when somebody finds the phone that works for them!
