I am guilty. Today I went into the VZW forum & had a flame war. I was battling for us saying that we are rightfully number one. Here is a copy of one of my posts:

I am through with posting here. I know the facts & the fact is that Cingular is #1. It doesn't matter how they came to be #1, naturally or not... #1 is #1. Verizon did not get to where they are by building naturally... They did it through mergers just like Cingular. At&t just happened to be a very LARGE merger. Yes, Verizon had many LITTLE mergers... but a merger is a merger is a merger.
You are all just jealous because you are now #2. I will not be replying to this thread...

Yeah, i did that on some degree. Alot of what i said got deleted. People asked me to elaborate on my view & so i did it by stating that even if the growth was unnatural, it was still growth. I said that it didn't matter HOW we became #1. I also said it didn't mean squat that VZW had a better quarter than us. We are still #1 & that is what counts.

Hmmm, I think it is funny when Verizon cries foul about Cingular's size. Verizon didn't start as one company with such tremendous growth they became number one. They merged from three major carriers, Airtouch, Prime-Co and GTE Wireless.
Cingular, as one company with tremendous growing pains in the 1st Quarter, had a spectacular quarter. With all the focus they have on shooting the bad agents, especially the non-exclusives, the numbers should rise. Once Verizon starts seeing churn and enough new customers with lower A.R.P.U. from an agent channel/National Retail their numbers will be effected as well. National Retail and Agent distribution have benefits and drawbacks. Verizon will soon see the drawbacks.

That is how business works.... and that my friends proves that the Verizon followers are generally idiots. Let them not buy others out. Well keep on growing and leave them in the dust. I don't need to raise any bars. I don't work there so I don't care. I'm just glad someone can compete with the marketing hype of Verizon. I am happy with my Cingular service and I get great service. More bars than any other carrier I've had. Including Verizon.
Do you work for Verizon? I doubt you have anything to do with their success.

Not going to happen that way. Cingular is going to lose alot of former AT&T wireless customers when their contracts are up.. They are not happy being bought out, and have no loyalty to Cingular. They are not being offered comparable plans, and to get a new plan must go to Cingular with a new contract, and to get a new phone must do the same. Almost half of calls to customer care are for contract dates and upset people about the merger. Just wait...

Your ignorance is what will bite you in the butt. If your company doesn't start treating it's Blue customers right they will leave!
Don't base Cingular on it's size alone, there is more than size that attracts customers!
Every Cell carrier out there is waiting to steal the ATT customers that are not happy with Cingular and the merger so if you do work for Cingy you'd better make sure you treat the Blue customers with respect!
It is Cingular's game to loose here, Verizon has added more customers in the last two quarters combine...

I think when Cingular finally says switch or get out, they'll switch. They can't get a better deal anywhere else, nevermind how pissed they are. I migrate customers everyday from plans with more minutes for less to what we have.

Also keeping in mind that no carrier is gonna offer plans the way the AT&T did prior to the "merger" finishing because they had not a care in the world and gave the world away, because they would not have to worry about the debt, someone else would. So just because they switch it does not mean the end of the world, because as they switch, so are VzW customers or T-Mobile customers.

Um... Cingular has made alot of exceptions for AT&T customers as far as rate plans go. Yes they are upset, but YOU wait and see. It willhappen with Verizon eventually (a merger) and well see how smoothly it goes. Also, alot of the AT&T customers live in areas that Verizon doesn't serve, so if they do change to a different company, whos to say it will be Verizon? I have plenty of customers happy to migrate. We offer a few things that they always wanted with AT&T.

I'd have to agree that Cingular needs help in the customer service department, but no one is perfect. They've been a new company for about 6 months so they have some adjusting to do. Now, if we are seeing the same thing in another 6 months, then there is a problem.

I think the reason is because Verizon forums are constantly complaining that we have no right to be #1. I am just a customer & i see exactly WHY Cingular is #1... Granted, yes, the growth was not natural... But neither was Verizons. They did it the same way... Through mergers. At the end of the day, the truth is that Cingular is #1 & it hurts...

I'd say you are right for feeling bad. While I have no beef with Cingular or Verizon (other than both carrier's coverage in my area), simply being the biggest doesn't meant anything. It's like saying Chinese Mandarin is a better language than Spanish or English simpply because more people speak it. There are definitely many more important factors that number of subscribers. Reception and customer service come to mind.

Dont worry about it, I own a VZW store and am a "fanboy" and still cant stand it over there either, all they do all day is bicker about the SMAE OLD THING, who is better, they make me sick, and embarrased for them to be associated with a great company like VZW, regardless of who "is better" this week
