- When is the V635 slated for release, the only reason I dont have a phone right now is because I'm waiting for this one, on cingular preferably.

- Will there ever be discounts for media packages on family plans or multiple phones? (Example: Sprint, Vision is $15 on the primary (unlimited internet, unlimited mms, 100 sms, $5 credit towards downloads), then only $5 on each secondary line if you want).

- Will they ever get rid of the "upgrade fee", sort of how nobody else seems to charge activation again for an upgrade.

Actually all the carriers charge a different price for the upgrade as well as new activation. This is a marketing ploy because the upgrade price is what it should have been in the first place. That carriers have decided that they will authorize an extra discount of about $30 plus or minus $5 because the new person coming in has to pay a $36 activation fee. Usually existing customers come out ahead in this exchange.

My wife and I now more than ever are devoted Verizon fans because of 2 seperate occasions where we considered switching to Cingular only because we like your phone selection better.
The Charlotte NC stores are ill staffed with untrained employees, what few phones they display do not work and the prices are outrageous.
To make matters worse Cingular customer service is probably amongst the worst I have ever dealt with across the board. (When the stores here were of absolutely no help we called customer care.)
I don't mean to bash your company, but when new prospects walk into your store to become customers, GREET THEM PROMPTLY, answer their questions, Acknowledge their presence.
Thank you.

It sucks to say but your absolutely right. I personally dont care about the customer service because I do everything online and as long as my phone works and dont have any problems Im good to go. But yeah Ive never shopped at certain stores again because of their crappy service or appearance. I know alot about the wireless industry and products and I dont even work for any carrier (Im actually a graphic designer) so when I walk into a store I expect each and every rep to know more than me.

If it's any consolation Cingular expects the same from reps... However you can never force a person to read the information provided to them. Not customer's... and unfortunately not all reps.

You'd be amazed at the efforts Cingular puts to relay information to employees... Some employees just don't read the information... For whatever reasons.

Sad to say but the best way I have found by working here to resolve issues is to deal with appropriate departments... If it's technical, deal with tech and don't involve customer care until the technical issue resolved.

If it's billing talk to customer service... Retail reps really only sell phones. Some know quite a bit... Most are only required to sell phones.

I have an answer for you, if you want Cingular, go into a non-exclusive store like ours where we do our own training and are an unbiased dealer of 5 carriers. To bad you arent in the Raleigh area so you can experience great customer service and excellent knowledge of all carriers and phones that we provide our customers to make the best choice when choosing a carrier for them. I have numerous customes that tell me how bad it is when having to go into any exclusive stores. Sometimes I wonder how they stay in business.

i actually work in a call center for Cingular wireless and we get complaints all the time about how store reps have no sense of customer service and minimal product knowledge. i find this most of the time in the virginia/north carolina area. i don't know what it is about that area, but especially after we bought out the virginia market from SunComm the customer service in that area has become even more outrageous. i really do feel bad for anyone customer that has to deal with reps like that.

I do not sell Cingular. I deal with service related questions after you have signed up for service. I can put you into contact with someone who can answer all you questions promptly and accurately as far as actual phone pricing goes. 🙂 Now if you decide to go with Cingular, and you have a unresolvable issue, contact me!

I've noticed a lot of the retail stores aren't too bright and the one in my town is run down, but, 99% of the time that I call customer service, I never have a problem with the person at the other end. And, as far as weird reception every now and then, I've had great service with Cingular.

the 64k sim card problem was something different - on 1100's with old software, if you put a 64k sim in, it would constantly reboot every 10 seconds.

If you get an updated sim card you will not have that problem.
