Ipad WiFi + 3G hits stores April 30th, ATT exclusive
What i've heard it that the device is completely unsubsidised and there are no contracts, the data service available will be prepaid only, $30 a month for unlimited.

yes i know. att is the exclusive carrier of the 3G data service on the device.

My understanding is that these devices will not be SIM locked, so any quad-band GSM carrier can be used (if you can find a microSIM to put in the device).
Will it require a jailbreak to get these running off another carrier once microSIMs become more widespread? I don't think this is "really" an exclusive relationship based on the info above.

i believe the sim is internal and nonremovable.
not to say that it would be soldered to the board but a person would probably have to take the device apart to remove it.
typically if the device is taken apart by someone who is not certified by the manufacturer it voids the warrenty.

None of that is relevant to my question: "Is the iPad software-locked to accept only AT&T micro SIMs?"
