What a CON...........TRACT

CHANELPHONE

😲 Why would anyone in their right mind choose to be on a contract, when they can have the same plan for less money with out the 2 yr agreement? What's the benefit of paying $89.99/month for something you could have w/o the commitment for $60.00/month tax free? 👀

Explain it to us how this is even possible. Are you talking about Pre-paid or something else entirely?

Yes, this actually is about both, post & pre paid accounts! It's $89.99 for unlimited talk & text on a contract, and only $60.00 for ths same plan w/o the 2yr contract! 😲

tax free?? the money i put on go phones is always taxed...a $60 card costs $63.60.

and people do it to get the cheaper price on a phone, and the possibility of upgrading later.

you also got to think about the fact that a lot of people are on family plans, and after converting to a family plan, the secondary lines (up to 5) are technically $9.99 a month, not $89.99 a month.

for another point, alot of people come into my store thinking that they need unlimited talk. but it isnt generally so, because people do alot more texting than talking these days, for the most part. you can get unlimited text and 450 daytime minutes for 59.99 a month. that is one of the most popular plans.

plus, its been going into effect lately that you cannot...

The tax isn't an at&t tax. Its sales tax from wherever you buy the $60 prepaid card. Some vendors discount the card so it comes out to $60 after tax or even less(i.e. wally world)

The $60 plan is awesome and a great thing for at&t to offer. A couple reasons why someone would not want the plan.

-No unlimited internet options.
-No phone subsidies
-Less flexibility with payment. If you don't add $60 after 30 days your phone shuts off
-Less nationwide coverage without roaming partners

We tend to sell this plan to people who don't qualify for a contract plan. Its also really popular with kids fresh out of highschool.

Once again, the tax isn't levied by at&t so technically at&t isn't charging ANY sales tax or other charges like they do on their postpaid plans.

you are right about that...but then again, its not at&t only. its also verizon, sprint, t-mobile, kmart, walmart, the acme, kohls, mcdonalds, jc pennys...

i could go on...the point is, there is no company that i have ever had experience with that doesnt try to use some type of deceit, or where the employees are all COMPLETELY informed on EVERYthing. in fact, every place that i have ever done business with could probably give me two answers or more to every question that i could come up with.

its not the company. its the human race.

đŸ¤Ŗ You are absolutely right! That's the problem! I've realized that AT&T has 20 different answers to one question! I don't have wrong information! If our selling point is "tax free" then the customer's shouldn't have to pay anything over $60.00, who cares about state taxes? We're told they won't have to pay state taxes! THAT'S THE "SELLING POINT"! AKA... WHAT MAKES THE CUSTOMERS WANT TO BUY! 😁

You can purchase the $60 card or any prepaid tax free at the store. You just have to buy them at the paystation. Which most people don't do because they don't have exact change or as a rep you take it because you want the pay out on it.

i dont know how some of you make it through a day.

$60 without tax is possible through the pay station in COR stores, just feed the machine and you'll get a straight tax free unlimited talk and text plan.

are you people that cheap that you're going to complain about tax? write a letter to your local state representative regarding your tax rate then...

BTW, prepaid service doesn't offer partner roaming coverage, postpaid plans do... check out the coverage maps:

prepaid is always cheeper than post paid for a variety of reasons.

-there are no roaming agreements with prepaid service, it's primary network only.

-there is no subsidation of equipment - i.e. you buy your own phones.

-prepaid only minimaly supports premium services and devices.

it's lower cost for the cell companies and they charge a lower cost to consumers.

remember that when you purchase a PP plan you do not get "true" nationwid coverage, you only get that carriers footprint. so basically main cities and maybe main freeways.

smaller selection of phones, no insurance, less features, just look at cricket. customer service is also much tighter with policies. not as much flexability...

Knowing all of this from working w/ AT&T, Cricket and US Cellular...

If you want the most reliable services, best selection of phones, and better overall experience...go with a contract...

In an industry (any industry really) where thousands of people get paid to sell stuff - you're gonna have people spin facts to "get the sale." Say hello to the word "Commission."

Some will be wrong on accident. Some will lie. Some will downplay this or up-sell that. Some will sell their grand-ma for this weeks commish.

Some... god forbid... will even live in different areas where there are honestly different answers.

I live in Delaware... guess what? no state tax. Would the sales person be lying then? I work in Maryland where there IS sales tax. Two different answers across state lines.

It's also been mentioned elsewhere... but you can get minutes for $60 (or less) after tax, or honestly without tax, although *SOME* places charge...

So it's 3am, and I'm at work. Of all the things I have to do, I find myself sitting at the desk in from of the computer pondering and found myself back on this site after quite a while absent; where once upon a time I was very versed and involved. (Having spent my time working for this industry as many of you have)

I couldn't help but read this last post, WernerCD, and chuckle. That obviously took some time and effort to put together and how right you are. It sounds like something I would have totally said lol!

However, the reason for my visit tonight is to ask the opinion of the people who have been more involved within more recent times than I have. Also as a consumer, not an employee.

Now I have had my trials and tribulations wit...

Yeah... the post took a few minutes, but thankfully I think for a few minutes before I type and then I can touch type so long posts only take a minute or two to put out there 🙂

I'm fairly Anti-Apple, but last year I got the iPhone. As an AT&T customer, it was hands down the best phone out. Bar none. My GF makes fun of me because I rag on her for having an iMac while surfing the internet on my iPhone ☚ī¸

But... that aside...

The differences for me... is iPhone feels more like an appliance. Not a lot of customization options, but it just works the way Apple advertises it will. The iPhone is a phone I'd get my mom and be comfortable that she'd not mess it up.

The Moment on Sprint is more than capable. I like it's style a little more than the Droid personally, although spec wise it may not be as high up there.

Yahoo Android makes me sad... and angry. It's an abomination.

Yeah... I simplified the differences of Android vs iPhone. There could be novels written of the major & minor differences.

For me... iPhone is like a TV, Stove, Washer/Dryer... It works. You use it the way it is.

Android is closer to a PC. Fully customizable. etc blah blah.

All paths have their perks and pitfalls. (same for Palm, Blackberry, etc).

Yeah... there were stories earlier this year about how flaky the sensors are. Not just Apple's, but all sensors.

The hang up for me would be, phone not working where I work. I have at&t and it works great for me. But if I could not use it where I work I would not have them. The iphone is great. I have tried to replace it several times but keep coming back. Its like loving a girl you don't like. You can run but you will be back. Known as the 80/20 rule. It does 80% of everything you want and does it well, but you leave for that other 20%. Just to find yourself wanting that 80% again.
