VZW & MOTO disappointed with DRIOD

The closely-watched debut of Motorola's flagship Google (GOOG Quote) Android phone is not yet three weeks along and already the $200 introductory price has been cut 25% and in some places 40%.
The discounts certainly fit the season Black Friday deals. But the speed of the move and the need to sweeten the price suggests that Verizon and Motorola aren't happy with the pace of Droid sales.

Early analyst tallies estimated that Motorola sold between 200,000 and 400,000 Droids in the first few days. Those numbers are uncomfortably similar to the less-than-dazzling start of Palm (PALM Quote) Pre sales this summer.

Wow, $119 on Dell's website. The thought of Palm Pre comparisons must be sending chills down the collective backs of VZW.
