I don't get it. I must have missed the "hilarious" punch line.

I think that he is referring to the fact that ATT is destined to be reduced to a second rate regional carrier. They can't even provide good service to SF and NY.

The andrioid phones and apps as they develop and/or the migration of the iphone to another carrier will be the final nail in ATT's coffin.

ATT's destiny is all but assured, stick a fork in it as it is done.

Considering the fact AT&T is kicking Verizon's butt in sales, I'd say not.

ATT's has more sales then Verizon? maybe because in the past 3 months I have seen such places as Amazon offer everyone phone for ATT for a penny with a two year contract. NO Restrictions. In fact there is one today! They have to offer these phone for such a discounted rate because the service is third rate and thats the only way to attract people.

And yet they do. You can say what you want, but the truth is that "third rate" products won't keep selling year after year. This is the same old argument people made against Cingular a few years back. Instead of everyone abandoning them, they surpassed VZW in sales, and are number two now only because of the Alltel acquistion.

Yep, I'd say

you could go back and forth on the whole acquistion thing. verizon was the biggest until cingular bought the old att so your argument on that front is not any good.

both companies have their strenghts and weaknesses and neither are going anywhere anytime soon.

Cingular passed Verizon by acquiring AT&T Wireless. Verizon was at 43 million at that point and acquiring ATTWS took Cingular to 49 million. Verizon acquiring Alltel is not a reasonable beef.

Second rate regional carrier? You're a tool. Not even Sprint or Tmobile would become a second rate regional carrier. I just spent a week in the bay area and my Bold worked flawlessly everywhere I went. I got a lot stronger 3G connection signal out there than I do here in SLC. Android is definitely a great OS but don't fool yourself into thinking the iPhone and the iTunes store are going anywhere anytime soon. The iPhone is a common household name no matter where you're at in the country. Android or the Droid can't even come close to saying that.
