Factual article

Apple has worked with AT&T to setup automatic, free login to AT&T's WiFi networks on the iPhone whenever users come within range. WiFi offers far faster network speeds than any type of 3G network, in the typical range of around 5 Mbps.
What about other Wi-Fi enabled ATT devices?
I love it how these articles always make abig deal about att having 3g where it matters (cities) and anywhere they don't have 3 g is the boonies. And yet somehow verizon phones not working in belgium is a deal breaker.
Sorry, but for me and millions of other consumers I travel nationally in the us outside 3g att coverage than I travel internationally.
I just got the droid. Averaging 1.4mb download 800 upload and 106 ping. Ill run a few more days of tests; but that ain't bad for the "boonies"
and by factual, AT&T's data coverage is nearly as large as Verizon's within the united states. AT&T provides over 90% of their consumer base with nearly twice as fast connection speeds and the other 10% are only restricted by a third of the speed.
Not to mention AT&T is the only true 3G network, being able to have simultaneous voice and data while Verizon can not.
When you look at the actual facts there really is no comparison.
simultaneous data/voice is based off of the tower tech, not some magical "att ability."
And yes, your theoretical speeds are faster. But compare that to real world speeds, or dropped calls, etc.
Verizon has a slower theoretical speed but much more consistent speeds/coverage.
See how much sense one liners are?

look at our network. We sometimes never have an outage. Look at AT&T... Outages everyday is seems almost.
What kind of BS mis-worded confusing statement is that?
Sometimes never= Can be read as often or frequent
Outages every day it seems almost?? I don't even know what to say to that.

Um, no. Not all of AT&T's data coverage is EDGE. There is a lot of Roaming area which is GPRS ONLY. And we cant use both voice and data, but look at our network. We sometimes never have an outage. Look at AT&T... Outages everyday is seems almost.
Never have an outage? Are you serious? Verizon's network was completely offline in much of North Georgia for nearly three days earlier this year.
