Sure can. 18.00 processing fee; credit check and new account number; your mom will have to of course give permission to do so.

Transfer of service $18.00 upgrade fee
depending on your credit you might have to put down a deposit for one year. well one year provided you pay your bill on time and are not suspended, if you are suspended for late payment you could have to wait longer to get your deposit back.

If you get a FAN discount, the $18 fee does not apply. 🙂

Just a footnote.

Along with the credit check he mentioned will most likely be a deposit because you have no established credit.

Yes. At first your mom would have to sign the contract and start the account in your name. Once you turn 18 you BOTH need to visit ATT and request a "transfer of liability". They will take your information and run a credit check on you, so you may (most likely) will have to pay a deposit. I have to ask though, why all of a sudden do you want this new iphone? I don't see how if the last two didn't have you craving how this one finally did the trick.

but im also looking at the Nokia E71x. i like the slimness, price, and the fact that its a nokia just makes it that much better. and id take a normal smartphone over a touch screen (non iphone) phone anyday. so im between the two.

First of all, 3GS versus 3G iPhone, not gonna make much difference.

Imagine you have this great firehose connected to the firetruck. Now instead of the firetruck connecting to the fire hydrant you have it connected to the garden hose from the neighbors yard. No matter how big and strong the truck and firehose your weak link is the garden hose.

AT&T's network is not ready for the 3GS nor is it ready for the 7.2 UMTS speeds. See all the independant bad press they are getting now? Think they just fixed that overnight?

Get the Nokia. It is an excellent handset from everything I have read.

I don't think any carrier is ready for this iPhone. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even in the UK, no carrier has still developed HSPA+.

If Telstra in Austrailia is getting this iteration of the iphone, they have already deployed HSPA+ this year. They call it their Next G network.

I believe HSPA+ is 21mbps not 7.2mbps.

And I'm not positive but I think Australia's Telrtra is HSPA+ capable. But the real question is there any hardware to support HSPA+ actually available.

IMO just wait till november to get it. That way if the phone has bugs on release (and givin iphone history it will) they will be fixed by then. Also by then you should be able to do mms.
