Problem with plan (adding MMS)
Just kidding, I have a nokia 6340i as my phone, well it is the last one I purchased directly from cingular. I am on a GSM/GAIT plan and I primarily use a 7250i which has camera, but I can't seem to add MMS to my plan. I think it is because my phone they have on record, maybe it is my plan. Anyone know? When I bring my 7250i (nokia) to a Cingular store they will not help me because it is not a Cingular phone. I know I not the least difficult customer but any advice is great.
oh yeah, make data plans cheaper too!

If you have a GAIT phone, I know that CARE does not allow you to add MMS because it is only a GSM feature, the TDMA on the GAIT does not allow you to have it probably. At least that was an issue with the old feature codes.. But if it a matter of programming the phone for the feature, they probably don't have the settings if we never offered the phone. I would call customer service and they might be able to patch you through to Tier III tech and they might be able to walk you through it, but then again then might not because we never carried the phone. ☹️
The 6340i does not support GPRS so in billing it will not allow you to add GPRS or supplemental features. The GAIT phone that does su...

I had to sign up for a GPRS plan for 500kb for I think 3.99 or like that and it shows up on my bill. I wanted one of the old Mediaworks packages but they have gotten more expensive and it would not let me add them. My wireless internet works fine on both 6240i and 7250i. I just can't sent the pictures from my 7250i to my email.

OK, ZJC emailed me. Don't see what the problem was, I was able to add the feature easy.
Thanks G.

Forgive my ignorance, but I am not sure what you mean by that. I am able to send SMS and connect to the internet via GPRS just fine with my 7250i. I only cannot send MMS.

You have the 6340i on your account so you are not using GPRS, you are using Circut Switched Data(CSD) which is a slow madness. Bi-way SMS can be completed on a GAIT phone and CSD can function on the 6340i.

but does the 7250i even support CSD? It says I am connecting through GPRS.
HSCSD (High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data)
But in the Americas the CSD is about 14.4kb/s

Help me out. I dont mean to say you are wrong but i have my 6340 listed on my account also so that if i am in an area that doesnt have GSM coverage I can put my sim in my GAIT phone and pick up a TDMA signal. Having said that, when I have my Sim in my GSM phone I can send MMS messages. Could his settings be incorrect?
Depends if he is set up for GSM-GAIT or TDMA-GAIT and what billing system he is in.
I am set up for GSM-GAIT, in TN.

OK, you were listed as TDMA-GAIT. Only Tier 2 can suggest is get an OTA download from Nokia.
Already did that, first thing. BTW it works now, I did nothing else different. But thanks for all your help guys.

ALL GSM phones are MMS capable request supervisor make some noise they'll fix it
The 6340i is not a GSM phone. That is what is in billing. You can't make noise for something that can be fixed by changing from GAIT to GSM. And that is not true about all GSM phones being MMS capable. Look at the Nokia 1100. Don't spread bad info please. You make our jobs harder!

I bow to you
