Mixing E71 and iPhone on one account

I don't know if I can do this, but I figure the people here know...

I have an unlocked E71 on AT&T with its appropriate data plan. I have no complaints -- it works well, and I really like the WiFI VOIP when I'm at the house.

I am now looking at the iPhone for development. To do this, I'd need to get that iPhone (the Touch is almost perfect, but it lacks certain features for testing).

Can I upgrade my plan to an iPhone plan with the appropriate data plan, and then just put the SIM back into the E71? I'd put it into the iPhone only when I needed to test with 3G. Or, is there a better way to do this? I know I could get one unlocked, but it's the same (effective) price.

Yes you can and it will work fine.

Going with the appropriate iPhone data plan will give you Visual Voicemail access in the iPhone, and standard voicemail access in the E71.

In this same like of thinking, this works with any handset except Blackberrys as they require a specific data plan for email support.
