In your guys opinion what is the best flip that Cingular offers right now. I am fed up with my Moto V400, this is my third one (ear volume just stops working randomly, and I have to use the headset or speaker) bad Moto! 👿 But they have all been exchanged under warranty (thankfully) 😁 So I will want similar features in my new flip... So what do you think, which one?
...
The LG L1400 is comparable... Or the Samsung E317
...
😡 The Samsung E317 has gotten some bad reviews from our customers and I wouldn't trust LG as far as I could throw'em. I personally like the MOTO V551 and I too am getting fed up with my V400.
...
I'm willing to try them all, but the V551 is a sexy baby.
...
I personally have an LG and it's okay, but I've heard lots of bad things from customers. I would stick with Moto, but upgrade to a V551. I've heard good things from customers, and it has all the extras you could possibly want.

i have heard the exact opposite. i discourage a lot of my customers from the motorola and send them right for the LG's.

For some reason, LG's batch of handsets for Cingular haven't exactly been awe inspiring.
...
maybe so, but LG kicks the **** outta motorola for CDMA phones.
...
But we're talking GSM. LG lags behind...at least this is what I've heard. I'm with CDMA and my LG works way better than my old Moto. So I could see there being a something involving GSM vs CDMA going on here.
...
I have had 7 Moto flip phones from Cingular. All of them crapped out in some way most of it was the charge port that they use on all V. Series phones. I had the v400 and v600. Also I had horrible service on both of the the v400 being a little better. I now have a 6230 Nokia and I love it. No charge port problems or problems with holding signal. If your set on a flip I would try the LG but if it's not a big thing for you definalty go with the 6230 Nokia
...
I've heard good things about the Nokia phones. I personally have had issues with Nokia phones in the past, but I've heard that they've improved. And the size of their new phones is almost the size of a flip. They are slick phones now, compared to the open face phones of the past. I would even considered a Nokia over a flip.
...
i would buy an audiovox before i would get a nokia. i dislike them so much. they fact that they are so small bring ****ty voice quality if you are around any kind of background noise.

So, there's you that thinks that and who else? Show of hands? That's what I thought.

my friend (aarynk) has a nokia and the mic is so far from his mouth that is picks up any background noise. i just don't like nokias. 😕

You are the only one who seems to complain about the background noise on my phone. I belive that Nokia is a great manufacturer for GSM phones. Lg is my fav for CDMA. The nokia selection is VERY behind on CDMA but hopefully that will change. I like a lot of features on my phones which my 6230 gives me and more.

well, i guess i'm the only one that cares about sound quality???

No your just the only one who seems to have a problem with the new phone. No one else has said anything

i'm the only one you call though.

Other calls I make or recieve don't say anything

well, they suck then. nokia sucks. LG rules all. 😈

If you think Nokia sucks, pass the pipe please 😳

nokia does suck in my personal opinion. deal with it.

You tell him!! I challenge him to find a phone better than the Nokia 6620..
...
a better phone than the 6620 . . . hmmm . . . the 4500???
...
I almost fell out of the chair laughing so hard. You are downright comical 😉
...
it is more of a preference thing. the nokias might have some strong points, i personally carry the 4500 and i love it. you almost fell out of your chair? you should stop drinking.
...
Dude you are on the wrong forum, you are lost..go back to VZW..I am done wasting my time replying to you..
...
i never asked you to reply or agree with me. 🙂 i am just stating my opinion. once you are a moderator, you can try and tell me where i can and can't go, but for now, you can choke on a ball.
...
In closing, your 4500 got an average review rating of 3.72 while the 6620 got an average review of 4.41...gotta love that 4500!!
...
did you actually read any of the ratings or just look at the numbers? the LG gets great reviews. it is the best phone i have ever used.

Yeah I am over the whole flip phone thing. I find the bar style phones to be more convinient but to each their own. This is my first Nokia but I have noticed the quality is much better than on a Moto. Their quality has been going down for a while now IMO

But we're talking GSM, and no, LG doesn't kick the "****" out of Motorola (in regards to CDMA)...but they are decidedly higher quality handsets.

i have no expierence with GSM, but from what i have heard and the motorolas that i have used (cdma and tdma), motorola is right there with kyocera, nokia, and audiovox.

I don't know where you get your info about Nokia, but it's decidedly erroneous.

Anyone who issues a blanket statement such as "Nokia sucks" strikes a nerve with me. You're either rational or you're not.
...
i am rational i'd like to think. with the personal expierence i've had with nokia, they are an inferior phone.

Well, you're a very vocal minority.
...
He has stated that he has no experience with GSM. That is his problem. Nokia makes absolutely horrible CDMA phones. However, their GSM quality is second to none. So his statement is only partly erroneous.
...
Yeah but with MOTO's recent rap sheet I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it either. As for bad reviews, I have had no issues with mine, nor my co-worker with his LG 1400. So I guess its where you are.

Moto V551 😁
I want that phone so bad. I am really considering signing up for phone service on a 3-year contract just go get that phone, even though I never call anyone and no one ever calls me (I'm not as complete a loser as I sound, honest). I have no use for a wireless phone whatsoever but still it's a struggle not to buy it every time I walk past the Rogers store. I don't know what it is about that phone. I just had to share that, LOL.
...
You could always get rid of your landline....xD
Don't feel bad, not many people call me, but for what i mainly use a phone for, a Sidekick would be better for me.
I might switch my service to T-mobile to get it...can't unlock it, Internet won;t wrok. ;_;
...
*trips over keyboard*

😁 That SIDEKICK IS STUPID FRESH!!! (That's a compliment)

I am seriously considering doing that, even though it would mean I've have to switch from DSL to cable interenet as well. It might even work out cheaper with wireless instead of landline, especially with the current "unlimited minutes for a year" campaign going on with all of the carriers here. I'm totally going to go fondle that phone some more at the store on my way to work today. 😳
...
inACWFeb 25, 2005, 12:44 PM
(remove offending second "e" typo from "interenet" to make sense of post)
...
There's nothing wrogn with Cable internet! 😁
But I dunno if Cingular has that unlimited thing...but we do have a nation plan with 850 anytime with rollover unlimited m2m and unlimited N&W...
You said yourself you don't use your phone all that much 😛
...
inACWFeb 25, 2005, 1:09 PM
Nope, no unlimited with Cingular, it's only in Canada. All the Canadian carriers (or maybe it's just Rogers and Bell) are offering unlimited minutes for 1 year. I wish I was in the U.S. though, because I'd rather be a customer of Cingular than Rogers. I'm sure Cingular's GSM network is better than Rogers' GSM in my area (I've heard Rogers is kind of crappy here) and you make a good point, I definitely won't need unlimited minutes with the amount I would (not) be using my phone. But alas, unless Cingular comes to Canada, I can't be a customer, even though they pay my wages.
Note to rabid Rogers fans: I am not trying to start a massive flame war. 😉
...
Yes I have cable internet..its great..no landline phone, just a cell and been operating that way for 2 1/2 years..no complaints here..
...
I'd say the LG1400. I had it. Got great reception, good pic quality. Had no complaints. I am no a fan of Motos right now. 4get the 180 and 220 and I can't even tell you how many 551 batteries I've had to swap for customers.
...
😳 I've heard stories about the V551's batteries but I have had no problem with mine. What's going on around here.? 😕
...
OMG_I've been getting the go around from Cingular and Motorola on the battery life of v551 for past 2 wks. No one admitting battery life sucks. Can you tell me more. Example: I fully charge the phone, made a 38 min. and 21 min. call. It goes low batt on me by 10:30pm and dies. [BTW_full bars on reception, live in a metro area.] I can't trust the reliability phone will be there when I need it. I could do 2 days of long calls on my Nokia 3560 before even charging. Husband and son have same prob w/ v551. Son lives in another town so it's not our location. I'm still w/in 30 days and thinking of having Cingular give me a good old reliable Nokia. Love v551 features, but need reliability. Comments??? Help??? Suggestions???
...
That would be one of the bigger complaints with this model, in my honest opinion. The one thing that I did notice is that Motorola does offer an extended life battery for the phone through their website... I don't know the price, but if you really like the phone that is a route that you can take... If not the Nokia 6230 is the same phone essentially, plus has the external memory capabilities, and longer video clips as well as a much longer battery life if you want to come back over to the candy bar phone side. 😁
...
i actually use an lg 4010. its a great phone....dosent have anything fancy....just a basic flip phone...but its slim, nice color and works great. plus if you dont want a camera or a color screen (this is a blue on grey screen) and something for almost no cost....its a great phone to choose.
...
I don't know about those other flips but I'd say get the Moto V551. Man that phone is sweet. I never really loved a cellphone before but this one..... 😁

According to my experience, I haven't used a really good flip phone except for samsungs. I'm looking forward to seeing nokia's flip phones. I think they'll be very user frienldy with great features for business.
...
Well, I can tell you the LG for Cingular is no good, wish they would cancel that contract for and bigger variety of Samsung- they are sleek, easy to use, good reception (although lacking in available features such as bluetooth and video). And I've seen more LG come back to the store within 30 days than ANY others. Now the V551 is the fix between the V400 and the V600 with the features of both. Although about 2% of its batteries are replaced, I would still highly recommend-- it is a good chance I WON'T have to see you again. And yes the Nokia 6230 is a wonderful phone although it does not flip. (I WILL be getting one this month) I personally carry the Moto MPX220 but I don't recommend it to anyone that can't handle it.

Or just plain dumb people. It's not that hard to pick up. As a retail manager I get all kinds of elderly people asking me how to work this phone and that...and I always wonder "phones have been around for 130 years...are these people dense?".
