Was happy with Cingular but not with AT&T

Is it just me? or has things gone down hill a bit since the change over. When I have a problem I now have to call and talk to someone that is an idiot and hang up on them and call back again, I might have to do this three or four time now before I can talk to someone who now what they are doing. Another thing is for the second time they have said FREE WiFi for iphone users and then said oh no we made a mistake. And its not just that, they said any customer who bought an iphone before July 11th would get the 199 price and again that was not true either. I bought on six months ago from AT&T, it got stolen or I lost, so I had it taken off the account back in May, just went back to my old KRZR, so I go to buy the new iphone and I am told $399 I ...

Well I have AT&T now, but I never had them as Cingular, I had friends who had them as Cingular and still have them now as AT&T, and she likes them better now. She gets better service now, like she gets one bar in the local Target where she used to get no service(its a dead zone, I don't get service in our Target, but yet full bars in the parkinglot)

I had them before Cingular and they had GREAT customer service then. I think ATT is better then Cingualar but one of the reasons I like GSM is I rarely if ever have to call them. I buy my phones separately and do not sign contracts. Whats to call about. I have never had a billing issues on the New ATT. Of course 2000 RO minutes helps tha...

That outsourcing customer service is a big mistake. I work in a Telesales channel that is soon to be closed. (firing about 50% of the reps by the end of the month) They are doing this by making it almost impossible to meet our quotas. They have the other (new) Telesales channel (these guys have no idea what they're doing. They send the wrong phones, accessories. Sometimes they don't even order the phones at all) and then when the customers call back, we (former Cingular channel) have to fix their screw ups. Im sick of getting irate customers screaming at me (the one who does the job right) for the screw-ups of the new dept (that's doing our job cheaper, and all wrong) and that eventually will put us out of a job.

I agree with some of the bad customer service in our centers since I am a trainer with AT&T and wonder what the heck is going on out on the floor when I listen to calls with my class. It bothers me that I am trying to training my people to use the customer rules when in the end they don't. It really shouldn't be that hard to do your jobs and be nice to our customers that really is the ones that pay them in the end.

I have had ATT/Cingular since ATT wireless and have only ever had one problem and that was a warranty exchange. Other than that I've never had a problem.
I work for a dealer and have to call the same CS number that customers do and true you get some numbskulls but tell me in what industry do you not get numbskulls. I just try to treat them nicely and encourage them to do their best. A lot of the CS reps are new (employee turnover in CS is hugh) and berating them will usually get them flustered and then you will really have an excuse to get ticked.
I'm not a fan of outsourcing but that is a topic that is needed to be discussed by Obama and McCain. I do not believe that American owned (majority owned, public or private) should be abl...

Overall Customer Service for Cingular and now AT&T has been steadily declining even before the AT&T changeover due to increasing reliance on outsourcers. Cingular/AT&T is relying more and more on outsourcers like West Corporation within the country and in India so that it will not have to open new call centers and hire more real agents with full pay and benefits as native AT&T agents have.

From personal experience I know about the problems caused by the outsourcer West Corporation. West pays reps about 1/2 of what a AT&T rep gets with no benefits and thus AT&T greatly decreases its overhead since they don't have to pay West much. West will hire anyone with a faint pulse regardless of intelligence or background just so it will have a ...

not only they're clueless as to what they're doing, but they have attitudes and are also very rude to us (former cingular agents) they'll hung up on us if we don't tell them what they want to hear. But worse, they promise the world to the customers (as a free V9) and then they just cold xfer them to us.
I think that if this doesn't get under control churn is going to go up (which I hope so they can wake the #&%@ up)

I have been hearing the same from alot of my friends and I have been contemplating which phone company I am going to next. My choices are at&t, sprint, and verizon. We have SunCom here but they suck big time. I have had a few issues with at&t with being double charged and over charged.

I have to say my experience is two sided. The ability to make a call from places where I previously could not is better. However, CS sucks big time.

last year when my contract was up, I upgraded my phone. At NO time did i even for a moment think I was signing a new 2 year agreement. Thinking I was a month to month, I called wanting more minutes and a free phone. I can get a discount through my employer but it's not quite $10 off so I called CS. After explaining what I wanted, which may have been a stretch-but you never know unless you ask, the CS rep said yes tentatively but that it had to go through Mgt.. I waited 72 hours with no call back. I called. The Cs rep said her mgr. said that since it was currently under consideration, they di...

No offense or anything but how could you not think upgrading your phones would not create a new two year agreement? Did you read the Customer Contract that came after the phone? It is too bad you got the bad seed in the company they could have at least offered an exception pricing. They did give some options though you just were not happy with the options they gave you.

Didn't even cross my mind. I was given no indication that getting my V3xx's would tie me up for 2 more years. And no, I didn't read the Customer contract. Something I forgot to mention, to be totally fair in this thing. They did offer me a BB 8120 for $249. They said it was $150 off. While the attempt at an offer was appreciated, it was no where near what I could pay. I thought that was about what it cost anyway, w/o a "rebate".

And no, I wasn't happy with the options they gave me. We'll see what happens April 5, 2009 when I call them and inform them what happened. After i tell them the truth, we'll see how bad they want to keep me. I know, I know I'm one of millions. But like all of you, I work hard for my money and I will not be treate...

Own fault than Dawg. If a company is going to take a $200 plus hit on a phone, it is totally fair for them to expect you to be a customer for awhile. If you owned a buisness, would you just give me $200 for nothing? I think not 🙂

I just love customer's thought process. They have their congress people pushing for no contracts, but then when a phone that used to be free will cost $150+ they will bit__ about that too. Which would you prefer? The discounts are a gracious thing. You agree to keeping your service with a provider, I will give you a phone for cheap.

It was totally wrong if you were not told. I always recommend reading what you sign for this reason. The rep may have been trying to be shady, but more than likely forgot or you did not hear him. Customers do tend to have selective listening especially when they are playing with their new phones. Good luck to you, hope you get it figured out.

I appreciate it very much. I suppose it's possible that I forgot but I realy don't think so. Or maybe that I didn't hear them. But the fact is as it stands now, I'm under contract until 4-5-09. When that day comes, we'll see what happens. I like ATT and hope to stay but we'll see.

UPDATE...UPDATE...

Got a flyer in the mail today about saving me some money on my monthly rate. I guess they saw us going over a couple of months. Thanks wife! 😁 So I call just to see what they have. So I have to repeat my story again which I gladly did. I was sent to the "Retention" dept. because I wasn't sure I even wanted to renew my contract next year which I respectfully acknowledged regardless of what happened a year ago. Long story short, I got 700 minutes for the 550 price and a free BB 8110 (after $50 rebate). I got signed up for shared billing because we have our land line with ATT as well. So...all's well that ends well. THANKS TO ATT!!!! Now if I could just get that promotion at work! 🤣 🤣 🤣

I would have recommended leaving your iPhone IMEI on the account, so it would have been fine at the lowest price on 7.11.08. I sold my iPhone 2 weeks ago to someone overseas, and haven't changed a thing on my account, because I am waiting on my 3G iPhone to arrive at my store thru DF. I'm willing to pay the data plan and leave my number alone just to be able to get the best price on the new iPhone.

I did my diligence and read about it online, and didn't change the IMEI on my line. If I would've, I'd be in your situation. Right now, I'm using that SIM card in a Moto Q.

The funny thing about that is that when you call in we can tell what kind of device you're using unless it is some unlocked, foreign phone. I've been getting a lot of cus with that, because sometimes not changing the imei can cause some minute issues with your phone. Like a cus msging was not working, we changed the imei and woo-lah. And the other thing about that is, I wonder if it will auto provision it or if the data plan may not work with the new iPhone.

I had some lady scream at me like a psycho just kept screaming about her bill. I looked in the charges shes using her minutes wouldnt let me explain finally told her i would up her plan re-rate her bill she screamed at me again that she was on a fixed income. PLEASE - if you are on a fixed income you would jump on the bandwagon to get a courtesy re-rate quick. She just kept screaming at me I finally raised my voice I told her if she is not going to help herself then no one can help her. Courtesy credits received every month with no minute increase. That does not fly with me. She hung up on me. I guarentee today after I check my repeat calls she probably called back in and I bet they gave her a credit. It is times like that that you w...
