I have AT&T, the closest thing to a QWERTY board phone they have is the Pantect Duo, it slides like a normal phone but slides sideways(likes Sprints Rumor). But according to AT&T thats considered a Smartphone, you could try the LG VU, but other then that AT&T really doesn't have any non smart phone QWERTY board phones.

oh yes i know what all they offer for keyboard phones i work for them i just cant believe they have not come out with a regular phone with full keyboard you know. it only seems wise to make on that is not a PDA or smartphone or touch screen just a phone with a keyboard on it that is just regular for all the kids that want one for text whos parents will not add on PDA package for one for the kid. i mean to me it just seems like a very smart thing to do cause its what the customer wants you know.

i know it takes time and all that to make them and get them approved and everything and set the way that they have to be set up and everything but if they wanna stay on top then they need to step up on that end of things

unless they change something, as of now, they won't be coming out with any phones that have a keyboard that isn't a pda. at&t upper management doesn't want any of thier custoemrs to have a qwerty phone becuase then they couldn't charge $30 a month for data.

see to me that is just so bad on their part you know what i mean. if they would come out with one they would see a rise on phone sales and a rise on text packages becuase moew and more people are texting including parents and they are getting into the keyboards also cause they realize how much easier it is.

I think this right now is a bad business move by AT&T in my on opinion just for the sales side of it. Cause i know my store would sell double what we do now if we had a QWERTY phone that did not require a $30 dollar package to buy.

Thank You Crackberry for your response it was just what i was looking for!!

You just have to figure out how to overcome those objections. The kids that REALLY want a full qwerty keyboard can usually be convinced otherwise when you tell them that the duo is junk with a slow processor that causes it to freeze all the time(we can't even keep our display model together), and they are used to t9, so when you put a blackjack II in their hands, they don't know how to use it and get frustrated, just trying to send a text. You may not have the kids sold on the idea, but 99% of the time, you can get the parents sold on it. Since they're the decision makers, that's who I'm more concerned with.

One of the reasons that ATT does not have a QWERTY phone that is not a smart phone is that they got burned by one a few years ago. About 3 years ago, ATT carried an LG phone, the 9100 I think it was, and could not give it away. Admittedly, texting was not as prevalent as it is now, and the phone did not have a camera, but it sat on the shelves gathering dust. LG then updated the phone to the 9200 which was the same phone, but with a camera and it was in stock about 2 or 3 months before going away.

Since then, ATT and other carriers have come out with unlimited text packages and such, but I just do not see them coming out with another phone with a full QWERTY keyboard besides the LG 920 and 915 (the LG VU with and without TV).
