FAN Info

texaswireless

Jun 5, 2008, 4:30 PM
So I know everyone here would love to keep talking about Verizon but...

Can anyone help me to see if these companies have FAN discounts with AT&T. No luck on CSP or Google:

Nissan
Toyota
Mitsubishi
Hyundai
Mercedes
BMW
Honda
Kia
Suzuki (hey had to ask)
Time Warner
Costco
ADP (payroll services)
Hoover
Walgreens
Chevron
Simon (the company that owns malls)
Macys
Dillards
JCPenney
Mervyns
Wells Fargo
Citibank

Any other big mall chains you could contribute would be greatly appreciated and rewarded

If you cannot find these in ECPV, there is no hope for you! (Hint - use '*' wild card in your name search)

Looks like you got alot of help TW. I don't know this for sure, but I don't believe Dillards does. About the only input I have. I have alot of local FAN's going but not alot of National organizations.

Why exactly do you need a list? If you work in a call center we no longer add FANs cus must go online to do so or visit AT&T stores.

Jun 9, 2008, 10:15 AM
Probably because we work in stores. It's a time saver to grab a list rather then pull up the ECPV. This also helps with local advertising like telling the local office they get x% off, it brings business in.

BINGO! And I hate not being able to help the customer to the fullest extent. If they leave my store not getting all the service they needed, I am taking a risk not getting them back in for anything else.

That website is a joke anyhow.

ECPV has everything in it. I never have problems using it. At the bottom right (sometimes it gets cut off) Global Search is still there. Use the wildcard function, example:

dillards*

And select IRU from the list.

If I am not mistaken, all corporations with CRU accounts have an IRU FAN as well.

I have a FAN number on my account through ADP (which is on your list) but it doesn't seem to do anything for my account...

Jun 9, 2008, 8:26 PM
ADP should be giving you a 21% discount, it would be on your bill as National Account Discount -$xx.xx.

Jun 9, 2008, 8:40 PM
I am not seeing that. I've had the Fan number on my account for months now.

Would it have something to do with it saying my company name that i work for instead of ADP? I signed up through ADP and ADP sends me my paychecks. But on my online ATT account it says "(my company name) MARKETING FAN#: 00072147"

Did you sign up with a company email other than ADP? I would have your local store sign you up with ADP FAN# 99564. I looked into your company and it has a 0% monthly discount. Be sure to take a check stub into the store for proof.

Jun 9, 2008, 9:04 PM
Your company uses their payroll service or your company is subsidiary of ADP? It is a big difference. If you don't work for ADP you are not eligible for that discount.
...

Jun 9, 2008, 9:07 PM
I guess I am not eligible then. But can I try my luck anyways and give a store rep my paycheck stub?
...
texaswireless

Jun 9, 2008, 9:11 PM
Your paycheck stub does not say your work for ADP. Good luck but reps risk losing their job by adding the code so you would need to find someone ignorant or on the way out anyways.

The truth is spoken here. I doubt a rep will add it. You have to be a direct employee. Check and see if your actual company has a discount.

You need to be an employee of one of these companies to get their discounts. Requires you company ID for verification. So if you're trying to scam a discount on your wireless, it isn't going to work !

Tex is an agent owner, he's not trying to scam anyone.

He's trying to compile a list for multiple reasons, and as you mentioned applying a FAN requires employment verification so having a list isn't a risk. Usually employees don't know their employers FAN, and their HR department takes months to look it up. It can also be used to advertise to specific individuals to help increase activations during slow economic times. Lastly, our tool to look up FANs can be down at any moment and we have no knowledge of an outage until we try. A list is just easier to maintain.

There is a website I saw via a Goggle ton AT&T that you can click on and fill in the customers info and it will let you know if they qualify.

Bubey,

I think what both Ralph and I said is lost on you. Many of the the employees of these larger companies HAVE NO IDEA they qualify for a discount. We can focus our outside sales efforts on these customers by offering a discount in advance.

For example, a very large employer in El Paso, where I have stores, did not have anyone approach them about their corporate discount. They offer vendor "discount" fairs once a month to allow their employees to take advantage of all the discounts they can receive due to their employment. More than 1000 people 1/2 mile from my store will now know they can get a 21% discount if they have or switch to AT&T. Nice little sales boost that is 100% legit.

Anybody else having problems with adding FANs? We can't add any FANs over 20%. It says only the business administrator can add the discounts. Also, the AARP FAN no longer works. The business rep said that ATT opted out of their contract with AARP. Anyone have any news on this?

I have not tried today but we have not had any issues so far. I will try AARP tomorrow.
