If i have a go phone under my name, can the NUMBER be transferred to a NEW contract account UNDER MY MOM'S NAME? I really would like to keep the number since I have so much associated with it.

Yes. It will require a service application by your mother, and you will need to be present as well. They will run a credit application on your mom, and any deposit, if applicable, will be payable in advance.

Now this is a PICK YOUR PLAN. Should I call and change the account name to my mom's? Or just leave it as me? And just get the account number, and have the pin

I've never done something like this before. So help! lol

You don't have to do anything in advance. Just go into a store with your mother and they can convert the account type to postpaid and change it to your mother's in one step (or rather five small steps). It's quick and easy, but I do suggest getting a new postpaid phone when you do it. If you're currently using a Go Phone branded device, those don't tend to last long.

some indirect dealers wont let you do this, but a corporate at&t store has no problem doing this

Why wouldn't an indirect let you do this? It's a commissionable sale. The only people I could see who wouldn't do it are those without the ability to do it.

??????????

Why do you people just make stuff up like this? Are you really that ignorant?

Ralph just said he could and my stores do it. We have it in our agent agreement that we get paid as a new activation.

The only question is why wouldn't an agent do it?

No what the reason is, is that corporate stores aparently do not like indirect dealers for some odd reason, so they will try and shove off business from us. It really is said. Its like a hateful relationship with corporate store and indirect dealers. 😕

It's not that indirect dealers WON'T let you do it, it's that they CAN'T! AT&T doesn't allow indirects to do a LOT of things. What gets me is how much business that indirects bring to the areas where COR stores are few and far between.

If you have PosII you can do it. I'm not sure about PosI though.

On what are you basing this?

Indirect dealers get paid the same as a new activation on this. That is like saying an indirect won't sign you up for new service.

What if I wanted to port to another company BESIDES at&t, would it still work, or would I have to change the name on the account then. Because The reason im going with my mom's is she has a good deal with us cellular.... So I MIGHT be going there...

Could I still keep the number?

Because it is prepaid, whoever has the phone in their hand is technically the owner. You don't have to go into the store with your mother, as long as she has the acct pass code she can do whatever she wants. There technically doesn't even have to be an acct name on a prepaid acct. Just to be safe though, I would call prepaid care before you go to the store and cancel the autopay on your credit card first, then verify that the acct passcode you have is still the current one. You could even change it into your mom's name if you wanted.
