Iphone killer...
basically you have to make sure the phone comes in the same 'bands' as ATT offers for 3G and all?
GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
WCDMA 850 / WCDMA 1900 / WCDMA 2100 ???

That's the good thing about ATT, they don't have to release it. You can simply buy it unlocked and activate it with ATT.
Exactly...This phone will cost around $700 on release if it follows the N95/n82 path and will settle around $500-$600. If ATT offered it, they would quote retail then "subsidize" it for $500-$600 anyway!!
Although ATT doesn't muck up their branded phones like VErizon, its still ok to use an unbranded/unlocked phone.

exaclty I only use unlocked, unbranded phones. I would even pay $1K for this bad boy. I have tmobile but I use a Nokia N73. The only reason I did not get an Iphone was because of the poor camera. everything else on it is top notch.
Im glad you said you would pay $1000 for it, IF it were not for people like you ,people like me would never be able to buy that phone for $700 a month or two later....LOL
Thanks out there to all those who bought 50" HD flat panels for $7000 too!!!

I dont by any electronic device that has been on the market less than 6 months.
For me it depends on the product. Phones have such a short "shelf life" a couple months is old news.
TVs a much longer time.

I dont mind not " keeping up with the joneses ". I am patiently waiting until all the bugs are worked out of the Nokia N82 before I jump on it.
What bugs? I am not aware of any. They just released a firmware update for some bugs. But I have not done it becasue I have not seen any bugs yet. I waited until the first new ones showed up used. The guy who sold me mine bought the N95. He wanted 3G and was willing to give up some features in favor of others.
But I intend on getting my hands on some OT on my job and $aving for that AMAZING N98. I just hope they have a very, very impressive battery in that handset. What I'm most excited about the N98 is the 5x optic zoom!
And I'm sure avgjoe will post some more garbage about the "iphad" and his beloved n95 and n82

Your kidding right? This was posted in june! Where is this device? I am pretty sure it is a hoax and not even in production. Why did you even post this!?!

You bet I will. I also agree this will not be an iphad killer.
Nokia don't market toys. Nokia sells TOOLS to those smart enough to do some research beyond slick ads.
The N95/82 is ALREADY an iPhad killer in Price/features but not hype and marketing. I'm betting MOST if not all of the "me too" dweebs who mindlessly bought into the iPhad MARKETING hype did not even KNOW the Nokias were available!!!! Many will not bother to notice the...

I have tmob and I know its a fad but except for the camera the iphone is pretty sweet. too bad its still $600 unlocked.
Waste of money at $400.....

how do you figure, I browse the web a lot on my phone and that screen is huge.
For me the phone just does not do anything really well. The screen is nice but the touch screen is not. I like to be able to use one hand to dial a call. No MMS. Thats crazy, No Stereo BT.
I like phones that my notebook can see as a Mass Storage Device. I also keep phones a long time and not being able to replace a weakening battery is a deal breaker.
The phone doesn't do anything as well as the N95 and many things a lot worse. Many paid $600 for it as well..Thats a shame becasue there are much better phones out there for that kind of bread...even used.
I bought a used N82 with the Garmin SW for les...

I heard they fixed the mms with an update. I imagine the 3g iphone will address a lot of these.
NAh..My phone does not have 3G. But I don't need it. The GPS can receive satellite fixes and can use the towers but does not need to. Therefor the faster 3G means nothing in that regard. The wiFi is plenty fast enough.
There are hardware differences Apple simply will not be able to "fix" with a SW update. They have a long way to go to catch up with the Nokia flagship phones.
can anyone get me a n95 for $300?

it's their first phone. give them a break. it's moved more devices in 7 months than nokia has all year, so I wouldn't be so harsh.
can anyone get me a n95 for $300?
The "moved" phones based on marketing....and creating a false sense of unavailibility.
Pure marketing hype. a few weeks after release they lower the price 30% Who does that when a product is flying off the shelf?
Nokia moves phones based on solid research. Not marketing. You have to find their flagship phones. Besides, Why would Nokia market a phone no carrier offers, few can afford, and many are unaware of.
You have to actually do some research to find those little gems. Can you find an unlocked un branded iPh...

You have to search for the phone, huh? Yeah, you're totally right. It's worth it.
Sorry, the iPhone wasn't ALL marketing hype. It's a freakin sweet phone, live with it. But, I would get an N95 if oppurtunity arouse...but I'd rather have an iPhone.
This isn't an arguement over functionality. It's about how the iPhone is a mini laptop. I don't care about being "seen" with the iPhone, but it's GUI is AMAZING, and Safari is AMAZING, and coverflow is AMAZING.
I promise I'm not a mac fanboy. I've worked on a dell for the past 3 years. I am a graphic designer and musician. I don't care about streaming video onto the internet wirelessly, or else the choice would be the N95.
That's my case.

Is he Finnish?
NO In fact I have not even begun smacking down those who stood in line to buy the iFAd and now have severe buyer's remorse.

............you're whacko dude. It's a cool phone. Deal with it. Your N95 maybe a million times better........FOR YOU. But I prefer iPhone. So, iCalm yourself down.
NAh I am just smug in the knowledge that I actually did some research rather then jump aboard the marketing "me too "train.......
I've done plenty of research. I didn't jump on the "me too" train. I could care less if nobody or everyone had that phone. I LOVE the look, feel, and GUI of the iPhone. LOVE it. It's a beautiful product. Sure, it's doesn't have a shaver and the kitchen sink, but I don't use all that stuff. Captain superior. Sheesh.

BTW the N95 uses Safari too.
the n95 uses a symbian browser. while it shares the unix/khtml under laying that safari does, it in fact is not safari. while you can argue that safari, symbian, mozilla and other open source borswers are all the same, the fact they have a different gui and produced by different groups of people make them different.
We need to start digging into the psychological issues that surround Joe, maybe 20/20 can run a little segment on his life.

He'll use the word "subsidize" and other big boy words even though he doesn't know what it means.
Also, every other post will have a list of all the amazing features the N95 has.

You gotta admit, though, for the first phone they ever made, Apple did a pretty decent job. Are there features that I wish the phone had (especially with the price tag on it), heck yeah - but for the first phone Apple ever made, its a pretty solid first step. Also, it has caused other manufacturer's to step up their products - we see these supposed "iPhone killers" being marketed, would those manufacturers have pushed those devices out as soon and priced where they are if they weren't trying to compete with Apple? I doubt it. Competition breeds things for the consumer.
meant to say "competition breeds GOOD things for the consumer."
