does cingular even WANT to compete?

zaakir

Jan 9, 2005, 3:54 PM
Im a 3rd party rep, and Tmo is killing cingular with the 45.00 1000min + N/W package. can any retail/company owned stores shed light if cingular has new promos planed for Febuary?

on a side note, ive noticed that theyve degraded the attws plans to make migrating look more tempting. guess they werent pleased with all the attws customers sticking with theit att plans(which were better).

Degraded how? AWS customers have access to the same plans they had before the acquisition; you just cannot activate a NEW line on an AWS arte plan...

Those great plans were ATTWS's last ditch effort to attract as many customers as they could before the aquisition. Anyone think T-Mobile is doing the same thing?

The rumor around is T-Mobile is going down. 😈

Tmobile is going down. All I can say is read all the news about them and TMobile Europe.

not true. u can tget the same plans you could a month or so ago. no more 1000 nationwaide for 59.99 with free nights after 7pm etc etc etc. all the plans have been degraded to match the cingula plans almost exactly, except cingular has rollover(marketing scheme). they dont even offer nights at 7 as an option anymore. forgot to ask if they still give you free incoming text messages.

yes att still gets you incoming text for free. let me ask you- do you think verizon would let you keep the rateplans of the company they just bought? no they wouldn't. no one would.

I'm a csr with CINGULAR and even I can see their plans are well...sucky!!! We just don't compete!! No one really cares about rollover, except really old people that don't use the damn things anyway.

If you say so....Rollover allows people to change their plan to a lower price rung to save money. and then go back up when they run low. And I think their plans are great. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah, that is true... IF YOU DONT HAVE A FAMILY PLAN! I would love to have a lower bill. Also, I end up having about 350 mins left over at the end of my billing cycle. In order to have extra lines for only $9.95, I have to be on a plan $59.99 or higher. In the end, If i go to a lower minute plan, I end up losing my free incoming sms, free nights @ 7 & paying the same amount or even more (49.99+ 19.99x2= $89.97). I wont switch until something more attractive comes alog. I have been told that if my phone breaks, they cant replace it without making me migrate. FOCK THAT! If my phone breaks... eBay time. 😛

Wow. Why would you do that? try 59.99 + 9.99x2 = 79.99...Why would you do the 49.99 family plan?
...

Jan 18, 2005, 2:43 PM
Like I said, I end up having about 350 mins left over (thanks to nights @ 7 & m2m) so it would be ideal to get on a lower plan. The only problem with that is, if i switch down... it will cost me. I just wish they had plans specifically for family & such like T-Mobile does. 2 lines included for $39.99 or $59.99 ect. add'l lines only 10 bucks more, regardless of the prices.

We can do a little comparison. T-mobile has the lowest plan. 2 phones for 49.99 with 400 anytime, Ours is 59.99 for two phones with 450 anytime, Verizon is 59.99 with 500 anytime, Then one up is ours is 69.99 with two phones for 850 which is the same thing at t-mobile but outs have roll over. Verizons next step is 79.99 with 1000 then ours is 89.99 with 1250. Then T-mobile's next is 99.99 with 1600 anytime and verizons is 99.99 with 1500, Our next is 109.99 with 2000 anytime. Now you are correct that the lower plans with Tmobile and Verizon have 9.99 for the third line. But on the otherside most customers can't do three phones with under 500 minutes. Verizons would be three phones for 69.99 with 500 anytime and ours would be three...

Try to justify this...

I have 1050 anytime for $59.99 + 2 add'l line @ $9.99. Free night @ 7pm. Unlim M2M. Free Incoming SMS.

Pricewise the only thing that even compares is 850 mins for $59.99 + 2 add'l line @ $9.99. Nights a 9 (instead of 7) Unlim M@M. I have to pay for incoming SMS. And dont forget Rollover (which would be useless to me anyway since i still have tons of mins left over each month)

Why would i want to switch?

That's probably a local plan and if you were doing some traveling then you'd want to change but if that plan works for you then you don't want to change. I am talking about competeing with Current competitors rate plans not about switching your legasy AWS plan to a new Cingular. If you are happy with what you have then keep it. Do you think you can get better at a competitor? Thats what we are talking about in this thread.

matty_719

Jan 18, 2005, 3:48 PM
But like I said... WHAT REASON DO I HAVE TO SWITCH?! & yes... I probably could find better, especially with promotions and such. Contracts only last so long & there will always be better. Nothing you say will make me change my mind & say "i think that Cingular is the best company in the whole wide world. Can I sign up for a 25 year contract & shine the CEO's shoes?"
...

Jan 18, 2005, 3:54 PM
Nope. You have no reason to switch. I wasn't trying tell you to switch. I was comparing current plans with current competitors plans. I was just saying that comparing the plans isn't as simple as it seems. Was not intended in any way toward anyone that his happy with their plan. It was intended for anyone that is looking for a new plan because they don't like their current plan.

Funny, TMobile still supports weird old Powertel and Omnipoint grandfathered plans that were old when TMo was still Voicestream... I've seen accounts with rate plans that haven't changed since 1997. So the assertion that "no one would" is technically incorrect.

You can still keep AWS plans. So far i have not seen any changes to rateplans. Now if a customer wishes to get a new phone on the new cingular they must change to a new cingular plan.

I would say that when the majority of "former attws" customers are migrated over thats when they will come out with new plans.I mean as it is, we get lots of calls from the 'former attws' customer to have their benefits mixed with cingular offers like rollover.

If they came out with new plans now, they'd expect the same thing, to be integrated with their plan they are already on.People don't realize that they want everybody off those 'legacy' plans, but want all new perks , and complain thats bad business to not add it to their existing service and promotions 🤣 🤣 🤣

Or you can go to a competitor and not get it at all. You got a promotion on your plan when you got it. That promotion is no longer offered. You are welcome to keep that promotion but if you want to get a new phone you must get a new plan where you have to pay for the 7pm nights. Unfortunatly plans and promotions change all the time.

True i would not get it, but someone will always offer something even better. Like t-mobile... 3-day weekends sound like a great offer.
...
Vox Dei

Jan 18, 2005, 3:31 PM
Do they still offer that? I though they expired that. And you can get unlimited anytime from Cricket. Of course you can't leave your city but if you are a hermit and haven't left your apartment for the last 15 years then that might be the plan for you. Of course you might as well just get a land line cause you won't be able to use your cricket phone anywere.
...
matty_719

Jan 18, 2005, 3:51 PM
That is true. Cricket is a stupid idea. It would be worth it if you could get coverage in other places... even if you got charged roaming fees. But once again... SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS BEAT THE OTHER GUY. Someday someone will beat T-mobile & then another company will be them eventually. Its just the way things are. What do you think churn is all about?

And on most of our other plans it's the same way, only the three day weekend plan requires a separate feature to add nights. Cingular and TMobile are kinda evil twins of each other in a lot of ways... 😛
