Hey all,

my friend has this phone and wants to use it through cingular. It's a Motorola v600 from ATT. I think he said he just needs to find the subsidy code to make it work with the Cingular sim.

anyone have any idea? or can they point me in the right direction

thanks!!

Google.com, only way. AWS reps will NOT unlock it.

That is correct, AWS rep will not unlock it. We do not provide unlock codes... best bet is a search engine. 🙂

Don't do it! The V600 is already flawed with it's internet connectivity, and it's drops calls, so when you bring it to cingular..all non company phones like that can't access our internet, so don't come crying when you can't.

Yeah..the V551 is better.

Not to mention... Its against Cingular policy to knowingly activate a non-cingular phone on the network. Had a guy come in with SONY ERICSSON P910 problems. The notes were loaded with him calling in to try and see why when he put his SIM card from his V551 in this phone it would not access media net or send mms or even sms. The notes all said he should not try to use it because of the firmware differences. Some people just don't learn though...

Last two posts sound like cookie cutter CSR replys.

Maybe if you knew how to assist customers correctly you wouldn't claim ignorance.

They also told us in migration training the 64k sims are bigger and won't fit the "New Cingular" Phones. Sti...

Nothing cookie cutter about policy. Customer's who insist on using non-Cingular handsets will continue to have problems. 😳 There is a reason the phones are programed with the firmware and programs the way Cingular buys them.

I would not call that ignorance but rather intelligence.

Dude chill, there is differences in programming and settings that we do NOT know how to correct, nor should we know how to correct.

Why would someone look for a different answer here than through customer care, granted there is some misinfo given through customer care, but i seemore of it given through forums such as these, although through neither channel is is ever on purpose. Also, maybe the response is the same cookis cutter response because it is the only one, there are only so many ways to say wireless companies do not provide unlocking codes fo rtheir phones. This is probably the 200th thread on this website since i have started reading about unlocking phones. It is written iinto the terms and conditions of pretty much every carrier that onloy phones sold by them will work on their network and do not provide the codes.

Actually, as of 11-2004, ALL Cingular phones are locked, even 'world' phones. IF you'd read CSP, it tells you the policy on unlock codes for Cingular.

The lock policy says that all phones are locked as of 11/04, but....

The unlock policy says, must have verified Cingular tri or quad band handset. complete 90 days of continuous service and have an account in good standing with $0.00 balance.

Then they will provide you the lock code for traveling over seas, but that is really the only reason you would need it. Besides going to T-mobile, but who wants to do that?

The V600 simply isnt worth the effort or the time and money to get that phone to work on Cingular's network. Manufactures put the SOC code in the phones for a reason- to prevent them from working on a different network. I would definately rather spend my time at work, working to make money for a V551.

😡 If I am not mistaken, the ATT and Cingular version of the V600 had serious problems due to the phones 850MHz frequency that they use in the U.S. Thats why when AT&T wireless and Cingular offered the V600 they had problems with it, and people were bringing it back to them to get different phones. The one for T-Mobile doesn't have that problem because T-Mobile doesn't use the 850MHz frequency that Cingular uses, the use the 1900MHz frequency in the U.S. T-Mobile disabled that frequency from the their V600 model phones, to only make it Tri-Band(900/1800/1900MHz). The V600 is originally a Quad-Band(850/900/1800/1900MHz) phone which means that it can support all the GSM frequencies out there.

Here's the link the the V600 forum. The man asked a general question. The V600 was just the phone he was using.
