iPhone on an ANR plan

I have an ANR plan working for an authorized retailer, and as many know we are not allowed to have an iphone on our account, especially when our rep has mentioned that AT&T has been actively auditing ANR accounts and "fixing" them down if they show an iPhone being used.

Now I have heard that if you unlock the iPhone so that it does not require activation through iTunes, that everything "could" be O.K.

So my question is, what is the best way to unlock the iPhone since I am not looking to use it on any other network, just use it without having to activate it using iTunes.

Did they tell you why they don't allow iPhones for that plan?

ATT does not allow any discounts on iPhones and their plans. This includes business discounts, employee rate plans, COU/ANR/Demo lines, and basically any line/account that has any sort of discount!

COR employees can get the iPhone on their COUs. Well in my market at least. We still don't pay a dime for the service. 🤤

well all of this is nice and all, but we all already know that iphones on non COU lines are forbidden.

I understand both sides of the argument why we aren't allowed iphones, but at the same time, if I'm going to pay full price for the phone as well as the service why cant I use it?

Anyway can we get back on subject here? Does anyone have any recommendations?

The best way? As far as I know there are only two ways to get an unlocked iPhone -

A: Google "unlocking iPHone" search for the article on it, and follow it step by step, (please don't come back on this forum complaining if your phone is turned into a brick by Steve Jobs next time install an update) or

B: purchase an unlocked iPhone from a European carrier, Orange is selling them for $1,099.

I honestly don't know. They said no, so it's no. It could be Apple's thing, or it could be ATT's thing. I'm thinking since Agents can't sell it, they don't want us to carry it. I know COR employees can have it on their accounts.

My guess is that since Apple doesn't allow ANY discount on the iPhone or it's service, they also mean us.

And if not having an iPhone isn't bad enough I submitted for the form to have a Blackberry package removed three weeks ago. Friday it was removed. Along with my MMS capability. And of course by the time my RAE gets in touch with the ANR lady and she gets it to her team I'll be so fed up I'll have started a regular account with an iPhone and not have MMS anyway.
