WARNING=LONG STORY

I had at&t for 2 years....Then my friend needed a phone, got her one, and she paid it ontime for about 6 months, then lost her job....

Result = No Money + No Job = No Bill Payment.

I couldn't afford to pay the 200.00/mo bill....

So it built for about 2 months, they turned it off = 425.00 bill...tried to work something out, but they just kept charging me monthly... so now, that I couldn't/haven't paid it, they assessed the termination fee, so my bill is about...oh....1200.00??

Iv'e tried to talk to them, but I get the same answer from every rep ive talked to "You need to pay it in one payment.." Which obviously, if I couldnt pay the 400.00 in one lump...I cant pay the 1200.00 in one lump...

Is there anyw...

Unfortunately that phone number/account number is linked to your social. When your credit is ran the past account will come up, and you will be refered to recievables management (collections).

Your reading comprehension skills really suck man, he said it was his fault. He is asking if there is a way to get AT&T back without having to pay the $1200 first.

Your common sense skills really suck man.

The fact that he would even expect ATT to make up for his mistake admitted or not is rediculous and reveals erroneous expectations beyond common sense.

Where did he mention that he expected AT&T to make up for his mistake? He was simply asking for ideas on how to get service restored without paying a lump sum. Yeah, he screwed up. He even said he's not trying to screw AT&T out of any money, he just wants ideas on how to restore service AND pay back the money with some kind of payment plan. If you're not going to offer any help, then don't sit on here trolling. It's annoying and counter productive. You're not his dad and he doesn't need a lecture on the error of his ways by some internet junkie who really sounds like an idiot tooting his own horn and frankly none of us want to hear your annoying bantor anymore. Just shut up already. Dick.

You'll want to talk to someone in receivable accounts. What you're going to have to do is set up a payment plan. I've known ATT reps to do this. Other than that... as much as I hate to suggest it.. get a small term loan and pay off ATT... make monthly payments on that loan.

A defaulted cell bill will deep six your credit really quick. Sorry this happened to you, but this is why I really talk people out of signing up friends on their accounts. I know it costs me activations, but I hate to see this happen.

Find out if it has been sent to collections or not.

I have never seen an instance where they would not accept a payment. Just send them one for an amount you can afford. If they refuse the check you actually have a valid complaint for the PUC in your state.

Do you have good credit otherwise?

Go into a corperate store and see if someone in the store is willing to work with you. They won't be able to make it happen, I don't think, but they do speak the same language as the phone reps you are dealing with. If you are trying to keep service, they may work with you on it. Generally they meet people half way on these bills. 😕
