I was looking at this phone. Some people have said that the phone battery life was horrible but that there is a way to turn off something to conserve the battery life. Any info would be appreciative.....

i had this model and have returned it, it seemed too small. it is long in length, but small in width. i also did not like the fact that the backlighting cut out very quickly. there was no way to adjust. i now have a samsung sync a707. like it and would recommend it, you might want to check it out. there are several websites that have info specifically for the sync... go into the sync forum in here and there are links to these other sites..

added note. i think nokias are great phones i just did not like this model. i recommend you go into a store and try out the models. preferably stores that have working models that you can play with. i don't feel the dummy models give any of the phones justice.

The 6555 is a pretty good phone. Keep in mind, this is Nokia's first 3G offering. That said, battery life is pretty good for a 3G phone, but 3G phones have poor battery life compared to Edge data phones. That's just the way they work.

The 6555 also is one of the first Nokia's I've seen that adopts a more standardized keypad. It's slow on initial boot and setup.. but after that few issues. I've sold several and my customers have traditionally been happy with the reception and quality the phone offers.

Then again, there's a phone for everyone so this may not be the phone for you. If you're looking for a combination of great reception and excellent battery life and don't mind not having 3G data, go with a SE 580i.

it's not their first 3G phone. N75 was first. (in north america with a gsm carrier) also, what do you mean by standardized keypad? they havan't done any funky key pads since the 3595 back in '03.

Sorry to go off topic, but I loved my 3595! It was my first Nokia... everything about it was top-notch except its bulk, although its larger size allowed Nokia to include a better speaker.

And although the keypad looked strange at first, I found it was extremely easy to use by feel, once you got used to it.
