Just finished my contract with Verizon and am thinking of switching to AT&T. First-time user of this site, though people on here seem really knowledgeable. 🙂 Anyone care to give some advice?

I'm a relatively light cell phone user. I plan to use the phone for making calls while commuting, for texts now and then, and to (hopefully) automatically sync with a MS Outlook calendar. A summary of needs, etc:

Needs (in order of importance)
-Excellent reception/call quality (yes, i know this also depends on the network)
-Bluetooth (both headset and sync w/comp)
-Good battery life
-Alarm (preferably, the ability to set many)
-Solid battery life
-Small enough to fit in pocket
-Decent ergonomics
-Easy/quick texting (should be easy......

Just checked the phone out. Seems like a decent fit, but I don't need MP3 (have an iPod) and the durability really worries me. Forgot to mention that durability is a definite need. Build quality would be high on the list...maybe even more important than battery life

The 8310 is a great phone. The Blackberry Pearl was my first Blackberry (the 8310 uses the same software), and it was very easy to pick up and learn. It takes about a week-week and a half to get everything down, but the Blackberrys are typically very well laid out and user friendly, I'd recommend it.

I made the switch from a normal small phone to the blackberry curve. It is awesome, I couldnt' be happier. One thing you should note, is to use gps on the 8310 you need to subscribe to an unlimited data package as well as the telenav maps. which total would run you about 39.99 a month not including text messaging, besides that, it has great batter life, gets good reception, will sync with outlook, and is overall a great device! I also like the sony w580i and the nokia 6126 both of which can sync with outlook.
