I have recently upgraded from AT&T's service to Cingular and chose the Motorola v551, the best of what was available at the time in my opinion. I've had a Sony Ericsson T637 before, but was very disappointed with the "buggy" operating system that shut the phone off quite often and poor voice quality.

We all know, one is not better than the other, but there are some differences, no doubt. What's everyone's comparison of Motorola and Sony Ericsson?

I did the same thing... Went from T637 to V551... I like the way Sony would let you put ID pics on text messages as well as calls... RF about the same on both phones, but with the V551 I got a 64k sim, which helps... Also the pic quality is better with V551... Bluetooth seems to hold a connection longer with Moto than Sony... I like iTap better than t9... but I like the messaging set up on the Sony better... damn... will I ever find a perfect phone??? lol... 🤣

- many of Moto's menus have the "yes" or "select" key swapping sides, left then right. I think Moto never completely changed their backwards UI, rt-to-Send, left-to-End.
- spoiled by the 616, the Moto just feels too fat at one-inch thick.
- all other features of the Moto seemed great to me, ...
