premere upgrade contract question

Does anyone here work for the online premiere site? I have a usps discount and was looking at the tilt but i was wanting to buy it at non contract price. I went through the motions all the way to the credit card screen and no where on any of the pages did it say i had to extend for 2 years. there wasn't even an asterisk that indicated any type of renewal. i found this odd and started over but this time selected new line of service and then it showed at the bottom that it did in fact require a new activation and new 2 year commitment then had a link about pricing structure that showed how discounts were calculated. when i was on the upgrade option it said that the prices were available on premiere only but did not show a 2 year contract was r...

if you are upgrading the phone only when you go through the process and dont choos a rate plan you will upgrade the phone and not the contract. If you change your rate plan on the website it will extend your contract

If you work for ups there is a fan number (foundation account number) for you. You need to go to a corporate store with a ups badge pr pay stub and have them apply that discount, then you can purchase the phone at retail price minus your fan discount which for ups employees could be up to 50% if i remember right. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO A CONTRACT TO USE THE FAN DISCOUNT. If you have access to ups email you could probably do this all over the web, but I would suggest you go to a corporate store. And yes I used to be a corporate store employee.

Agents can do the same thing and if they know what they're doing they will have more FAN Availability. I spend alot of spare time in the ECVP looking for more discounts. COR stores are not the almighty god.

Most agents would have no idea what a fan discount is, and they will not have more fan availability than a cor store.

We have the same access they do and if I don't already have it in our list I can find it. We can't add FAN discounts but when someone needs a new SIM card we're the first on the list.

Pretty sure fan discounts are brought up in training no matter where you work. Agents can handle it just as well as cor 😁

As a COR rep you do have to have new contract to use FAN discounts. Also if you read the fine print on premier web site, FAN discount are not available on data devices. We have had this issue in my market and have had it reiterated to us that FAN discount are for upgrades and new acts and the store pricing will usually beat that that discounts.

There, I fixed it for you.

BAN number, FAN number, CTN number, PIN number and any other combination of number to an acronym including the abbreviation for number is redundant and one of my pet peeves.

One thing to remember on the premere site is that list price on items you buy is about twice what the regular site shows.. So, if you are making purchases.. You get huge discounts, but, reality is, you are paying the same.. Except the 22% service discount..

First i work with USPS (united states postal service). Second I already have the fan attached to my account. Third I want to buy the phone without extending my contract. I went to the premiere site and under upgrade it let me get to the final stage of charging my Credit Card and no ware on the site pages did it say i had to extend. it only said that i was receiving my premiere price. But when i went back and chose new service it then said it did require a contract. My question was what i was seeing correct in regards to buying it without extending by contract. The phone was not as cheap as it would be with a discount but was definitely better than full retail at the stores which is 600.

I'm not to sure how the premier site works, I have not used it that much. But where I am, I just go to a cor store and pay full price minus my fan discount and they do not make me sign any contract.

Thats f'ed up because here the cor stores dont do it and some do. no one has the same story and the premier site and corp discounts are taboo to them..

If you're placing an order and it says "upgrade" anywhere on there then you're renewing the contract.

The reason a lot of stores don't do those discounts is because they change the retail cost of the phone before giving you the discount. I had a customer once who wanted to but a phone outright with her discount, and called up to place the order in my store. That didn't bother me because I'm an agent and we can't do those discounts. Well, they quoted her the a retail price of over $600 for a non-PDA phone, so with her discount of 50% the phone was still cheaper at our retail cost and she bought it from us.

the contract will never extend if you do not call and just use your same sim card.

And then you'll never be able to upgrade ever again because the system shows you have an upgrade pending via e-store.

it really doesn't I upgrade that way all the time and my contract never changes. Yes I do work for at&t also in customer service and that is how I know the contract doesn't change. Even if you do want to call and use the new sim card you can check and vif on the website what your contract is. Also When you first sign up for the premiere website and discount that is the only time your contract will change as the discounts usually require a 2 year contract to activate the contract

Whenever a customer orders something online and never calls in to activate it, it locks us out of changing any of the equipment information or processing another upgrade. If the new equipment was never parked, it may not have that problem. If it is, I mentally slap them upside the head and tell them to call the IVR to activate it.

Ok so Ive had my tilt now for a little while and Im still not under any contract after upgrading the phone through premiere for usps. Hopefully this will clear up the confusion in the future about weather it extends it or not if you get a new phone only..

Congrats on not getting extended. My corporate AT&T rep couldn't answer the question since it's a personal paid account instead of a corporate paid account, so they got some AT&T premiere rep on the line and they argued whether or not it was a 1-yr or 2-yr contract extension, but they both agreed that it will extend my contract.

I'm hoping that they're wrong. I'm waiting to see what happens with my corporate paid account before doing anything to my personal paid account.
