I need to get out...
My new house is in the "best service" zone according to that useless "locator" thingie. Problem is - I'm lucky to get 2 bars in the middle of the night - inside or outside the house. Mostly it's garbled sound, dropped calls and "Network Failure."
Also, at work my phone now seems to like to go to "911 only" mode. And I have to restart it to get 5 bars. But in the meantime I was unreachable.
So - what do I have to do? Do I have to call CS every time a call drops and complain? How soon before they let me go for free? Can I make a case that their service locator is a blatant lie?
I would call warrenty repair for your phone and have it exchanged out.....
I had this problem a few years back with a nokia I had... Exchanged, 5 Bars back!
Try it, Couldn't Hurt.....

Waived ETF Scenarios...
There are instances where an ETF should be waived during a cancellation. Please see the below list for scenarios in which the ETF is waived:
Customer Death:
Customers that cancel service due to account holder/user death are not charged an ETF. This should be waived at the time of cancellation.
Death Certificates are not required.
Military Transfer/Deployment outside of our coverage area:
See Military Cancellations for all requirements and the process for having the ETF reversed
Equipment Returns:
An ETF is not charged for customer

I normally don't post on these threads, but I found the "official" reasons to have your WTF waived. If none of these apply and you cancel, you owe an ETF.Waived ETF Scenarios
LTV1 Cancellations:
For details on when the ETF would be waived for LTV1 customers, refer to LTV1 Guidelines.
Does anyone give you th option? Hey pay full price and you go straight to month to month? I know some still do a year for a less of a discount on a phone but I don't know of anyone that will give you a post paid account without signing a contract.
If you were LTV1 they would've already sent you a letter stating that they were cancelling your service and you have 30 days to move your number.

I think that there's more to this story than just a phone not working. He or she just wants out without paying ETF. Service doesn't degrade just because. If he gets another phone or SIM the problem should be resolved.
So - you think you know what you're talking about?
Just right now I got off the phone with the ATT CS - because my phone went "Emergency calls only" again. 20 mins down the drain, and all the CS can tell me (very pleasantly though) - if it does it again, call us and ask for a new phone.
But I am very suspicious of the "remove/replace battery" circle - with all the new technology can't anybody properly diagnose issues anymore?
How come all the people I know who have Samsungs on Verizon love them?
I can't dial ANYTHING now - not even 611! But - hey - at least I don't get "Emergency calls only" textbox.
Great fix ATT! Now spending more time listening to the ads on the 1-800 number... 😈
