at&t takes over Cellular One...but when?
Have any of you heard about when the deal will be finalized between dobson and at&t so that at&t will have completely taken over Cellular One and will begin selling all the products of at&t..hopefully soon cause U.S. Cellular is really starting to get on my nerves!! 👿
...
I'm sry, but when did U.S. Cellular become part of Dobson? 😕
...
They didn't but Cellular one is! Cellular one and us cellular two entirely different companies!
...
Actually - AT&T didnt buy Cellular One. They bought Dobson. Cellular One is a franchised name that any carrier can pay to use. Dobson choose to do business as Cellular One but other operators also use that name.
...
Actually: AT&T DID buy Cellular One because Dobson bought the entire Cellular One brand name once Alltel purchased Western Wireless.
So once AT&T finally acquires Cellular One/Dobson at the end of this year, the Cellular One name will be gone.
So people are correct in saying that Cellular One is being purchased because only Dobson is entitled to that name.
...
I think the confusion was between the Cellular One and US Cellular names...
...
Another carrier can pick up the Cellular One name, though. AT&T/Dobson has to sell the name as decided in the approval process. Probably will happen by one of the other companies using the name.
...
I bought a corporate apparel and promotional product company that has Cellular One inventory and a webstore. Curious to know if there are any Cellular One outlets other than Dobson and those bought by Alltel?
...
yeah i know that they are two entirely different companies but i have U.S. Cellular right now and i'm looking to switch to at&t when they take over Cellular One...so do any of you know when that deal will be finalized and when Cellular One will officially be at&t?
...
Its a process and it's expected to be finished around the end of this year or beginning of next year. Which product in particular are you looking for?
...
to me, it really doesn't matter what phone i have because as long as i can call text and store contacts i'm fine. But i just wanted to get on at&t's big network and get rid of U.S. Cellular (aka smallest network ever!!)
...
You can probably do that now, just need to buy your phone from an AT&T store. Where are you and do you need to port your number?
