Hey everyone, just thought I'd say hi from a new AT&T employee. Still in customer care training, so should I run for the hills now, or do those of you that work for AT&T like it? I figured I'd finally join phone scoop since I've been reading posts on here during down time in class lol
...
How much training do you get as a new employee? I am a customer of ATT, but work for the competition. We put our new employees through several hundred hours of online training, and an average of 50 hours of classroom training per year. That's not including the hands-on training that they do before they are turned loose on the customers. Then, they are on a 30-90 day probation period. How does that compare with your training?
...
Well I'm in week 4 of a 5 week new hire class, then we have 2 weeks of OTJ training. I know we have a 90 day probation period, which I think includes the classroom time but I'm not sure. As for ongoing training I know they do training throughout the year too as new policies and equipment are introduced.

As a thought exercise, I think it would be interesting to evaluate your current attitudes and feelings in regards to the industry and customers.
After some time, I imagine it would be quite interesting to see how much (if any) your thoughts and paradigm change.
Prepare to become jaded đ¤Ŗ

my 1st week on the phones blew. now that i am not on the phones anymore i love it. đ
...
What do you do? I forget.
...
Welcome! Me being a Transformers fan wants to say "Bah weep grannah weep nin bon!"(which folks who've seen the 1986 movie know what I'm talking about!)
I've been working in the industry for a Premeir agent for AT&T. I hope you enjoy the job because it can be very rewarding if you're kind to your customers.
...
That was s good movie!!
...
Must be nice. I left a job in another call center to come to work here and at the other center I had worked my way up to being off the phones most of the time. But such is the price you pay to work closer to home lol đ
...
I'm prepared to become jaded, I've worked in a call center for a bank and also one for a retail/mail order company.
Not having taken a live call yet here though my attiude towards the industry and customer is generally good. Although from reading on here and listening to calls I'm suret thats gonna change lol
...
what can ya say, some calls are good and some calls are bad đ
...
this job is boring and is too easy
i started smeing in the first couple months
then started taking sup calls in my first 4 months
idk, i used to like the job, but idk we dont get paid enough
...
i like taking sup calls, the customers stop yelling at you because they figure you have so much more power than the last person they talked to but usually are clueless that for the most part the first rep that answers the phone can see that the issue is resolved, if you're nice to them anyway.
...
i love taking sup calls also.....you can get more of an attitude with the customers and then they have less of an attitude towards you for some reason.
i would probly rather sit and take sup calls all day than taking regular calls....you end up talking to way more "interesting" people.
...
i havent had a sup call myself in 3 months
idk i handle every call that gets interesting like a sup call
i definately take control
coughandshowwecarecough
haha
...
ive taken sup sup calls.
its funny when they think they are talking to a manager or somthing but im just a normal rep.
...
for real,
actually i really do care and help out as much customer as i can
i just put myself in their position
...
Thank you. BTW you said SME's. Do you work in "West Texas"???
...
Exactly I've got five times the fon experiecne that any of my TL's
...
Do you all find that customers now want to call in and talk to the CEO...not just a sup?
...
yea several times hahaha
...
Do You work for a third party call center (training 10 wks 5 in class 4-5 OJT) or AT&T (training 3-6 months usually 6 months)
...
jesus....6 months of training???
...
yes i work for west corp, i couldn't stand 6 months of classroom training cause i learn a lot more by doing stuff myself and learning as i go
...
i wonder what is the difference in pay between att and vendor sites...
i get paid a whopping 10$ an hour
đŋ
...
$12.??
cant remember the cents but its 12 somthing
im in a call center tho, so it doesnt matter....not sales.
...
what do you do, im beuc
im pretty sure we get screwed over
...
warranty.
yeah....your getting screwed.
...
we make any where from $9-$14 in my xbm center
...
i think its the same here. i make the most i can make without being promoted to a sup or team lead.
other centers might make more depending on cost of living in the area tho.
...
Yay. Me too. BEUC rep. Second week. Are you in reno?
