Question About SE.

A Long Time Age. I had the nokia phone, it was GSM, when GSM was new for At&T. It was TINNY as hell, LOVED that phone.

The I also bought the Sony Erricson T68.

They both could be in the same room, same position, and the nokia would have a FULL signal, and the t68 would have 1 or no bars. I exchanged it 2x before finally selling it.

Could someone please tell me if SE has made their phones better, or am I still going to get a phone that provides no signal.

Current blakjack owner. Love the signal it provides in MY area.

Let me know SE guys.! 🤤 🤤

That's strange. I don't know anything about the T68, but the W810i and the W300i are both excellent at holding a signal. As a matter of fact, I'd bet that both of those phones are in the top 5 of all Cingular/AT&T phones for signal performance.

Yes, they have improved drastically since then! All of SEs models have incredible RF performance and are now usually recommended right alongside Nokias where reception is a big problem/concern.

The Sony Ericsson s710a was the highest performing model Cingular ever sold while it was in the lineup.

I would go as far as to say that SE is just as good as Nokia on reception nowadays.

Some SE's may be even slightly better than Nokia. To be honest, in my experience with at least 10 handsets of Moto, Nokia and SE I would say those 3 are very comparable and there is no true winner. But they are definitely better than the other players i.e. Samsung, LG, etc..

I will take it a bit further than these guys and say SE's are better than Nokia, especially when you put Clamshell Nokias in the mix.

Nokia really screwed it up for themselves with the Nokia 6102. Thankfully, they caught their mistake and brought out the 6102i but for my friends who got the 6102, the damage has already been done. Now they are avid Motorola fans.

Really? The 6102 was the highest performing clamshell cingular had released to date. also, nokia holds the patents for the codecs and all gsm manufactures pay them royalties.

The 6102 was terrible. The 6102i is probably the awesome phone you are talking about.

Hate to disagree but you knew someone probably would.

I got the 6102 before the "i" came out and it's never missed a beat. Call-quality wise it's second only to my 6230. I've had the V3xx, 6126 and N75 and returned all of them as they couldn't match the RF and call quality of either the 6230 OR 6102 (and NOT the 6102i).

Can't answer the question.

I've been trying to upgrade now for almost a year and getting frustrated because I just can't find a phone that will provide the top consistent quality (for me and my area) that the 6230 & 6102 do.

I looked / played with the W810 several times but just couldn't quite get there with the keypad and the (apparent) single button for initiating and ending a call.
