Are you staying with AT&T then? I'm thinking of doing the same thing. My contract is up and I really like the iphone. Any advice would be appreciated.
read all you can. Don't be blinded by the flash. Make sure the substance is there, Its a $600 cell phone. You can get far more in a cell phone for $600-700.

I had Verizon - Switched to AT&T for the iPhone - Love the iPhone; however, in the 5 years I was with Verizon all the calls that I had not dropped were made up by AT&T immediately after I established a 2 year service contract with them. I regularly drop calls, experience static of all things (like a radio) and cannot place calls at times for unknown technical reasons, with AT&T. It is not the iPhone causing these issues. Regardless, I love the iPhone and lack of a great network is completely worth having the iPhone, for me. By the way, if you're reading this from a Window's based PC get a Mac.
Now there is a typical Apple Kool-aid drinker.

I work in video production and I really love the way a Mac integrates their applications with one another. I'm able to stay very organized and share things from one device to another, seamlessly...and yes, including my iPod. Sounds like you're really upset and take things personally - keep in mind, everyone has their own right to decide what they like and don't like, for me...it has never been due to a logo for any product. My decision to continue using the iPhone and stay with AT&T is similar to driving a Lamborghini...it gets horrible gas mileage, but it's amazing.

I have both Verizon and AT&T, while the the Verizon network is generally, but not always, better, my experience all over the country with AT&T does match what you describe.
It is the iPhone.

Sorry it should be "my experience all over the country with AT&T does NOT match what you describe."
Static would be an audible hiss. If you're hearing the other parties voice cut out that's a loss of signal. You can get a loss of voice on GSM, but not static. Static indicates a device problem.
