How does the iPhone have 8 hour battery?

Did Apple somehow create something better then lithium ion?? I think the best battery life of current smartphones is the 8525 (correct me if I'm wrong) at 5 hours of rated talk time, the next closest being 4.5 with the treo 750. So is Apple just lying?? How the hell does the iPhone have an 8 hour talk time? Can anyone point out a phone to me that has ever had 8 hours?

What does that do? I'm assuming it smartly disables things that aren't in use... So is apple that great that no other manufacturer has had something similar? Sounds like more hype...

sony ericsson gets similar battery life. it's listed as 8 hours talk time. also, those are measured with just talking, not text or anything. and it can be done. some phones do an average of usage when listing talk time, others just quote talk time.

maybe its because half of the features really dont work the way theyt are supposed to so it never uses any battery? there will be many things we dont like about this phone if what i have heard is true. i wont say alot because right now its not on paper in front of me, but i am not overjoyed with the CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS to get an iphone.

LOOK WHY DONT WE JUST SAY WHAT WE MEAN! buy an extra house charger, get a car charger for each car and then maybe you will be able to have a phone and mp3 player. heres the thing though--batteries have a limited amount of cycles before they go bad and your getting only about a half hour to an hour talk time. now what really uses these cycles is plugging in yourphone and if you have to plug it in more you may need to buy a new battery sooner, but if this has an internal battery--uhoh result is not soo good for the consumer. what will they do --replace it, maybe if you have insurance, but them you will get one of those refurbed models im sure that are refurbished cuz they were returned or were broke and now you have the fixed!?! version. ...
