I hate cheap customers

OK, so this isnt anything new....a lady came in with her old v180, and wants to upgrade.. ok, so far I'm on board.... then I see it a $29.99 plan... and of course, she wont change it.

Then she says, I want your best deal. I told her, I may be able to offer a better price, but it often reserved for customers who add media packages or other data services, at that point she say I always get a free phone, if you want my business, I want a free phone!

She left to go to Verizon......... boo-hoo!!!

Do people not understand that we arent a non-profit company!?!?!

Sometimes you know what kind of customer you are getting as soon as you see the customer. Whether it be cheap or a big spender you kind of know. So to ask the old cheap lady to add media packages to get the best deal now thats funny. Why couldnt she get the free phone was it because of the 29.99 plan.

Every customer is worth the effort, IMHO. When you work for a company, you are the representative of that brand... and should be doing your best for each customer.

I'm not sure how Corp stores (or dealer if you work for one) work, but at Radio Shack, we have a bunch of free phones and some that are close to free.

I work dealer store and they are a bit different. We are constantly trying to stay up with radio shack but somehow you guys are able to get away with stuff that we would outright lose money on.
I would have offered her our lowest end phone for free though, theres always accessories.

The great thing with us, we are not just a wireless store. Wireless is a great part of our overall package, but it's just one thing we offer our customers.

um...ok. well I am glad to see someone from Radio Shack actually takes an interest in phones. I hate to say it but the radio shacks around here have a bad reputation...well for everything, but especially phones. I tell all the customers thinking of going to R S that their account will probably need work if they go there, because we get ALOT of their screw ups. I used to work for a retailer (like r s) and the training for cell phones was horrible so I don't blaim the employees, well not too much.)

Dude, you are living in radioshack happyland!! Here in the REAL WORLD we have things called quotas- WE DON'T SELL TOYS TO KIDS OR CORD PHONES TO OLD PEOPLE. We sell a subscription service and phones/accessories- that's about it.(for now?) If we don't meet that feature attachment rate- that might mean losing- well- $400 which right now is a lot of money for us. We don'...

even though she is cheap you still could of gotten her into a free phone. ya maybe you wouldnt make that much commission or that much profit but what if she tells her friend about you and her friend has a 200 dollar plan. i try and treat all customers the same. ya i give extra perks for those adding media packages but every customer has friends and i want all those friends to come buy from me

They have to get media to "qualify for all discounts and rebates" it's a policy that has helped our feature attachment rate, and people understand especially if it's a requirement to receive a rebate.

well then wether you be an agent or core they are pushing you to hard. ya we have standards here but all that attachment rate comes in time. i do an upgrade and act. from time to time with no feature or anything and over the last year i am still averaging 16$ in monthly reoccuring charges and 1.5 verts per phone. which is not really all that bad.

Why does he make you sick? He was being honest to the customer. Cingular gives people a better deal if they're paying more every month.

1. what he probly meant by "cheap customers" is the kind of people that expect everything for free for no reason at all...doesnt matter where they are or what company they are with they will be dificult untill the very end no mater what, i hate those people too...i mean you dont get a free tv for paying your cable bill every month, why do people come to expect this from a cell phone company?

2. -see above- she will whine and complain with verizon too and she will move on to the next company so on and so forth....

3. there is alot of venting going on in here, i know i couldnt deal with the people i deal with on a daily basis without venting a little....just part of the job, if it makes you sick then go somwhere else.

Wow.. impressive you would be so bitter just because she was trying to negotiate the best deal she could.. its part of sales.. You think every car salesman who sees a customer walk across the street and drive out with a new car with the deal they were looking for(or closer to it than you were going to give her) thinks that customer was a Jerk? If you cannot peddle with the rest perhaps you should consider another line of work.. And you probably lost a few sales by "not wanting to talk to the manager" She will never go back to your store and I am sure her friends/aquaintances/coworkers/neighbors will know not to see you either.. Good Job!

At the price plan she was on, it probably wasn't worth it. People on those rates are getting shut off left and right for LTV, and then you're stuck with a chargeback.

Seriously, I am pid to get quality sales, not quantity.... if that make me a bad empooyee, so be it, but as long as the death srat pays my salary, I will do what they say.

Now, if they are a big spender, and put more $$ into our bottom line, of course they will be given additional $$, custoerm who cost us more than they bring in are more then welcomed to go somewhere else

What (successful) company spend more to keep a custoerm than they get in return?

I am lucky enough to work for a dealer that shares the profit margin with us, meaning that I know the cost of every phone and exactly how much profit is made on every rate plan and feature. And whoever said something about a $200 rate plan, commission is capped off at the $80 rate. Basically they figure if someone has a $200 plan they need that many minutes, you didn't just sell them that plan.Features are also capped off, so you make no more off a $44.99 Blackberry BES plan than you do off a 29.99 Media Max 1500 (although is does help feature attachment rates, which seem to be getting less and less important as focus is shifting to DSL, Homezone, Dish, etc.). Many of you will never have the info that some of us are granted and never be able...

And this is why I as a long time customer have never taken advantage of a free phone.

I instead buy my phones and stick with the same package. No media. No text messaging (leave that to the teens). Just good phone service and a 1500 plus roll over minutes on a $60 a month family plan with two phones.

There are those of us who got along quite well without a cell phone for 20 or more years just fine and can do it again. We don't need thousands of minutes, s l o w Internet access on a tiny screen, and want to press tiny buttons to text messages that would be quicker to make with a call. We do not need to send crappy pictures to others nor really need the convenient camera, We already have Mp3 Players that may not be Ipods (because ...
