Why Sony Ericsson insists on ignoring the US market potential by not producing quad phones with 850 GSM band? Interesting that most of their phones have been successful in the US market.

Thats a good question. An even better one is why they have not attempted to release a phone with 850/1900 HSPDA? Im pretty sure that Cingular would pick up a couple of their devices but they seem to be dragging their feet. Whats up with that 😕

Which phones are you talking about? This statement does NOT make sense. The SE w810i and w300 that are offered on AT&T and are both quad band w/ 850. What is interesting to me is why AT&T will not cave to SE's pricing demands.

what does that mean? SE wants to charge more for their handsets?

I had heard that SE had an extensive lineup to launch in the US w/ Cingular. When negotiating suggested selling prices, Cingular did not want to offer the handsets at those prices. They only took the w810 for in store and w300 on line only. I don't know what prices SE wanted to offer their handsets at, but I would much rather sell SE than most phones.

I agree 100% they are the best by far. I wish we had more of them!

timslo,
please view their website so my statement would make sense to you. I am talking about their line of PDA's P1, P990, or others like W950, etc.

They dont want at&t screwing their phones up with junk software. Thats why I buy my SE's unlocked, ala W810 and K790a.

Makes more sense now. You could have just mentioned that in your post, but hey no worries. I never really do a lot of research for products I don't intend to buy or sell. While I could put more work into researching more top of the line stuff for my own use, I'm just not that picky and can't afford most of it anyway.

Something to add from my previous post is that Suncom picked up the SE k790 and w710. Cingular passed on these phones! 😲

We dont know the whole story as to why AT&T didnt pick up the K790a. Suncom also had the W810 long before AT&T did. There are about 4 or 5 small regional carriers that offer the K790a. But irreguardless, I prefer to buy my phones unlocked anyway. Thats the way I bought my W810 and K790a.
