Best Phones for signal pulling

AndrewMcHorney

Hello

I am about to switch to Cingular from Verizon due to too many problems with customer service and coverage.

What are the best phones that Cingular sells that will pull the best signals? I want a phone that in the back country that can get a signal (provided there is a tower) reliably and have good amount of talk time and not weigh a ton and is reliable.

I like what I see in the Razr v3xx.

Traditionally Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones have the best reception (and I can speak from personal experience with each). However, I am now using the v3xx and can say without hesitation that I have seen absolutely no difference in the quality of reception between the Sony Ericsson handset I used prior.

I get great signal in even the most difficult places such as my basement, large stores such as Wal-Marts and Targets and even in the mountains where I camp (where other handsets I have used had none).

I would definitely recommend either the v3xx or perhaps the w810 if reception is your biggest concern.

Hope this helped!

Hello

Reception and the ability to make calls is very important. After all, one cannot use a camera, video recorder or mp3 player when you need to make a call for an emergency. I do camping and backpacking and this is why I ask the question.

That's true, but as you're laying there in the woods with your legs trapped by the fallen tree, you can listen to music, entertain yourself with a game, and even take pictures of your situation. That way when they find your skeletal remains (after the animals eat the rest) they can view the pictures and see exactly what happened to you.

Seriously though...I agree with you 100%. Good reception is my top priority too. That's why I chose the ...

There is always someone with a dry sense of humor like me. Of course watching videos and taking pictures will drain the battery and then you have nothing.

so listen to music, it drains the battery a lot slower... 😛

True - Perhaps I should have some funeral songs downloaded as I lay down dying under a nice tree. I think we beat this thread to a pulp.

The Sony Ericsson phones have great reception. The w810i is a candybar style and the w300i is a flip. I have the w300i and I love it. It has excellent reception and the best battery life I have ever seen in a phone.
I have also heard that the new v3xx does very well too, but I personally like the Sony UI much better than Motorola's (Cingular isn't like Verizon...not all Cingular phones are forced to use the same UI).

Whatev!

What other phone has a mirror on it! It has to be the best phone ever new or old!

It's not a mirror. It's a piece of aluminum foil that meant to be a mirror. A mirror would had made the phone more expensive... 🙄

I work for Cingular's tech support and warranty...and....in all honesty....a motorola is the worst phone you can get especially to use in the "back country". too many problems for one with ANY moto out there (even in the best coverage area). I would recommend a phone that doesn't have any type of music player on it if you're looking for GREAT coverage in a low coverage area. if you really want something with MP3 or whatever, I'd go with a samsung...especially the D807. fewest calls about that phone over any. oh, and any LG phone is the worst as well.

best of luck

I highly disagree with you on Motorola's underperforming. The v3xx is by far one the most quality handset that Cingular is offering right now. My own personal experience, as well as that of many others on this site proves it.

ok honey...do you receive about (doing the math).....100 calls a day on phones from Cingular? Didn't think so. That's all I do for 40 hours a week....plus working with 600 other people that do it....I'm gonna know the phones that don't work best with certain networks than any Cingular customer.

Texas,

What about the Nokia 6102i or the 6030?

Those are both good phones for reception...but just good. The question is about a phone that's gonna work good in the "back country"....you're gonna wanna purchase a phone that picks up network easily and keeps it.

i am in a "good" reception area at my store and the d807 gets no service even side by side with an lg cg225, so that advice kinda sucks Texas Legs

First of all "honey," I'm pretty sure you don't know who I am or what I do for a living, so don't you think it would be a little more appropriate to find out before you go off with the smart ass response?

Why assume that I'm just a Cingular customer?

Seems as though I'm not the only one who disagrees with you. It's kind of ironic too, considering you obviously know more than anybody on this forum. 🙄

when you said the D807 gets the best reception, you lost all credibility right there, i've seen just about every single one i sold come back, because of poor reception and call quality.

the best phones out for calling are the:

Moto V3xx
Nokia 6030
SE w810i

I have to agree with you on that one. My wife has the D807. While it's a cool phone that does many things very well, reception is definately it's weak point. My w300i ALWAYS has a better signal that her D807.
