Confused and need help

Since I saw they changed the logo on here but left the cingular website intack. I notice the N75 is AT&T. Now even if this is a name change. I'm still confused about the AT&T phones. I have a family plan. Two of my lines are eligible for upgrades. Been holding out for this phone for a long time. Now if this phone gets branded with AT&T. 1. Will any cingular store or cingular website still sell this? 2. Can I have an AT&T phone with my other 3 cingular phones on the same family plan? 3. Or do I have to purchase a new service line just to get this phone through AT&T? Thanks for any help on this.

Yup, as long as it's "at&t" or "AT&T" and not "AT&T Wireless"

So are you saying I can have at&t branded phone and a cingular branded phone on the same family plan? Or do I have to make sure the at&t phone be unlocked to work with my cingular sim card?

It shouldn't matter if it is a cingular sim or att sim(which doesn't even exist yet) The last merger was much more complicated now it is just a name change.

No, you cannot have an at&t branded phone and a Cingular branded phone on the same family plan at this time. Why? B/c Cingular has not started rebranding equipment. So any at&t branded equipment would be old legacy at&t wireless equipment, which is NOT compatible with current Cingular (the new at&t) equipment or family plans. Seems a little confusing at first, but to boil it down, your old at&t equipment is not compatible with any new Cingular plans/equipment and never will be.

Thats not true, you can have an unlocked AT&T Wireless phone with a Cingular sim, and works just fine. i requested the unlock code just last week, got it and no problems.

Cingular is not "re-branding" phones at this time. There are NEW phones which are branded with the NEW AT&T logo. For example, the red Blackberry and the Moto 900 bag-phone.

The OLD AT&T phones, which have not been manufactured for several years would need to be unlocked and have a slightly different logo.

The NEW AT&T phones are actually NEW phones and do not have to be unlocked. From now on expect no NEW Cincular branded phones!

So, if you see an AWS part number on the label of your phone, then it is an OLD AT&T phone and needs to be unlocked. Then it will kinda work with a Cingular phone.

And if you have an old AT&T door-stop (TDMA) phone, enjoy the sound of silence as that netwok gets turned off next year!

AT&T and Cingular are the exact same thing. So when AT&T branding does come about it means nothing. AT&T is the same as Cingular, Cingular is the same as AT&T. Ignore what symbol is on your phone. The Cingular plans and AT&T plans are the same thing. There is nothing else to get except Unity which is again, the same thing as Cingular.
