AT&T Next Generation National Plan
😳 I was wondering if you can use all of your features in this area? For example Western Wireless is quite a bit of the purple on the map, is the grps features seamless or do they even work or do I get billed roaming?

Voice and data are roaming in the darker purple color. The only non-roaming areas are the light and dark orange colors (unless you have a multi-band phone like the Siemens s46 or SE T62U then you get the yellow and light purple color also)
Hmm, according to the map legend at the bottom of the brochures "data as well as Next Generation and other features MAY be available" in that purple area. They aren't making any guarantees.
By the way...why do they have to make the map so freakin' confusing. I don't think customers appreciate this. They use 2 colors of orange and 3 different purple shades. What the hell?

I agree. The yellow with orange outline is their GSM/GPRS and the light yellow with no outline is their Analog or TDMA not sure. I still don't understand why Puerto Rico is a color all by itself. The purple is Western Wireless, Cingular, T-Mobile.
...
light yellow is TDMA and that really light purple is analog, yeah puerto rico is doing it's own thing over there in yet another purple color. Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands are roaming for voice, yet not for data usage. Odd. Go ahead and use your internet, but don't make a phone call. 🙄

Why does AT&T have to ALWAYS make things so difficult. I'm a dealer and my promotions and maps and brochures seem to change by the week. Hopefully this will change after the merger, eh?

We can only hope. I'm gonna go check out the cingular map on their website. I bet it's not 8 different colors!

Trust me, its not!

Just visit the roaming partner's website and see WHERE they support GPRS.

I thought you actually had a list from Cingular that said these are the roaming partners and this is where you can roam on gprs. I don't think all of the above have completely overlayed gprs yet, except tmo.
...
And actually I was wanting to know if it's even possible to get seamless service when you roam on the grps for some of the carriers you listed?
...
I only listed roaming partners I knew of, whether or not they have GPRS is unknown to me. And whether or not it acts seemless is also a guess to me. Perhaps someone who uses GPRS often can be of more help.
