please respond with either/only a true or false..

you will not recieve roaming charges on the national plan as long as your alpha tag reads att or home.

For TDMA national network plans, the answer is false.

While the phone is about 80-90% accurate, there is really only 1 way to be 100% sure you won't get roaming charges:

Utilize #121 Voice Info from your phone. It is a free service provided ONLY by AWS and it will work ONLY on the AWS network. Sure, it may use 1 or 2 minutes of airtime, but that's cheap compared to possible roaming charges. If you press #121, then send/talk/call on your phone, you will be connected to the voice info service. If you get a welcome message, then you know you are on the AWS network, if you get an error message, then your off-network and could be susceptible to roaming/ld charges. I think he got charged roaming on a bill and is wanting to dispute it 😛 Still think they should include a verbatim with that plan simply saying something like "If you are charged any roaming charges you were not placing/receiving calls from the AWS network so they are your responsibility" Regardless where you are, if your charged roaming they should never be credited back. Sounds harsh to some customers probably but how many of the people who call in with roaming charges on the invoice do you think actually 1. Looked at their phone at that 1 specific call they were charged to see what it said. 2. Were on the network.

False. The screens are NOT rate plan specific. they only know if you are picking up a aws tower or a competitors. i know this is true on tdma, but no clue in regards to gsm

your phone may read att or att wireless(gsm) while in puerto rico and the virgin islands because attws has network in these countries. however, you will be charged roaming while there on a national network plan. for gsm customers there is a north american package avail for 9.99 per month and will make puerto rico, the virgin islands, and canada apart of your home calling area.
